About the Author

Heather Flood, a mother of two with two young grandchildren, was encouraged to write by her husband Tony, a former journalist and one-time Controller of Information for Sky Television.

She began by reviewing theatrical productions for the Richmond and Twickenham Times newspaper series and, since moving to Eastbourne in 2008, she has penned theatre reviews for the Brighton Argus.

Heather gave Tony the idea for his first children's novel, The Secret Potion, a fantasy adventure story that has been hailed as the ideal follow up to Harry Potter. Then, two years ago, she decided to write children's books herself, mainly for her grandchildren Gabrielle Antonia and Ashlee. It was Gabrielle who came up with the idea for Mousey Mousey, a delightful little mouse who loves everything pink.

Heather has benefited from belonging to the Anderida Writers Circle and the New Eastbourne Writers Group - and meeting publisher Rupert Barlow!

She also loves singing and belongs to the Concentus Chorale, an Eastbourne choir which gives regular performances to audiences of several hundred people.

Heather, a former secretary, likes trying new things and has taken on many challenges. These include helping her first husband to build their first two houses, climbing The Great Wall of China and making wedding and birthday cakes.

She enjoyed learning to dance with Erin Boag, one of the stars from TV's Strictly Come Dancing, but simply discovered that, sadly, both she and Tony have two left feet!

REVIEWS:

Children should love these delightful tales about Mousey Mousey - she's such a sweet little mouse, I feel for her straight away. There's morals, scary moments and, above all, bags of fun - these are ideal bedtime stories. Maybe Mousey Mousey will be the next Hello Kitty - fighting bad with good and charming us in the process! And Mousey Mousey could become the most loveable children's character since Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit.

- Jill Rutherford, author, Cherry Blossoms, Sushi and Takarazuka, seven years in Japan.

Mousey Mousey is adorable. My five-year-old grand-daughter Madison loves her adventures as much as Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo and Jacqueline Wilson's Glubbslyme.. I think Heather Flood has come up with the best children's book since Enid Blyton's Noddy and Beatrix Potter's The Tales of Peter Rabbit.

· Angela Warren, grandmother, from Maidenhead, Berks.

A heroine is born! Mousey Mousey is so good they named her twice! A lovely and delightful children's story character that will appeal to children everywhere. Here are dilemmas, bullies, friends, creepy-crawlies, morals -- all the things that make up a good all round children's story. Never mind the children, I loved it!

- Jeffrey Holland, actor of Hi-Di-Hi fame.

Mousey Mousey is a delightful character who young children will easily identify with, and her exciting adventures always end with a moral 3-9-year-olds will understand and learn from, without realising they are doing so. But above all these stories are fun! The witch Agatha is suitably ugly and scary - though not too scary! - and her ideas of good food will have children wriggling in delight. Mousey Mousey's friend, and Agatha's daughter, Bernice, with her small rebellion against witches' traditions, is again someone youngsters will like and identify with. Each short story is complete in itself, but they form a coherent whole, and I am sure children will want more stories about Mousey Mousey and her friends as, indeed, I do!

- jay Dixon, author, The Romance Fiction of Mills & Boon 1909-1990s.

My friends and I are delighted that Heather Flood has written such wonderful stories for our children to enjoy. All children should adore Mousey Mousey, Molly Mole, Rachel Rabbit,, Ben Badger and Mousey's other friends. And they will laugh long and loud about the antics of the naughty witch Agatha and her lovely daughter Bernice - mine did! The writing in these magical stories is simply spellbinding and the illustrations and front cover are also great. Mousey Mousey is even more delightful than the little mouse in The Gruffalo.
- Kirsty Stevens, mother, Aldershot.
