His father designed and made ladies purses many of them were western style designed tooled purses. When they worked on them his father would have the radio on and they listened, to old radio broadcast of Mr. And Mrs. North, the Shadow Knows, the Lone Ranger and many others. Then in 1959 in Phoenix Arizona Chester read for the first time the book Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The stories were also placed on the television with Basil Rathbone playing Sherlock.
