About the Author

Ranjit Arora is at present Head of Department at Bradford and Ilkley Community College, where she is in charge of multi-cultural education throughout the institution. Carlton Duncan was born in Jamaica, West Indies. In April 1982 he took up the headship of a large comprehensive school (Wyke Manor Upper) in Bradford where he stilI is. He has also served on the Home Office Working Party on the Recruitment of Ethnic Minorities to the Police Forces; is currently serving on the DES Statistic (Ethnic) Working Party: Regional Sub-group and on the National Union of Teachers' Working Party for Multi-Ethnic Education, and is a consultant for Anti-Racist Teaching at Sunderland Polytechnic Education Department. Finally, Duncan is now an assessor in County Court cases involving Race Relations under the 1976 Race Relations Act.
