Supenceful because you weren't sure who killed who or who & why were people being blackmail?

Who would guess such a good murder 'mystery' story would have come out of small town folks

The story was good and the author wrote it so that there were several possible suspects. In fact, even the suspects not guilty in the current investigation went to jail so there were lots of interesting twists and turns. I thought the writing was more brief and to the point than most experienced writers who are generally more descriptive. However, I still really enjoyed it and may buy the next book in this series.

A highly enjoy christmas mystery with lots of unusual characters that have interesting personal histories - which are unknown to the people in town.

Cute story however the "don't you know" and "so's" generously sprinkled throughout made were terribly annoying. Nice plot

This free, 200 page Christmas mystery was cute. There was an over use of don't cha knows, ehs and heys, as another reviewer stated, but I did not find this annoying. I have family, who says this all the time and it made me miss them. This book was set in 1945, just a few months after the end of WWII. There were any not horrific murders or descriptions, no cursing, sex or other adult subject matter. I debated on how to rate this extremely, well edited book for a long time. I do not think it was perfect, but it was sweet and entertaining. I liked the fact, the heroine was in her mid sixties. I sometimes feel as if people of this age are the forgotten generation. This short novel was a very fast read. Even in 1945, many of the problems contended with then, still exist today. This is more a murder mystery which took place at Christmas, rather than a Christmas story. I would have given it five stars if the characters and town were more detailed. For readers 15 and up. AD

Characters are not well formed to remember from one chapter to another. A very quick read. If this is one of a series hope it got better after this one. I m from northeast wisc and it just doesnt quite seem regional enough dont you know?

What in the world is with the words Dont You Know at the end of sentences on every third or fourth page? Seems like a little overkill to what could be an otherwise story.
