About the Author

CHARRON MONAYE is a dynamic Lyricist, Poet, Author, Screenwriter and Humanitarian who has motivated many with her emotional lyrics, poetic words, and by proving that failure is not an option and success is only granted to those who strive for it. Through her works, Charron has given life to various social and emotional issues such as: homelessness, love, heartbreak, revenge, poverty, victory and racial inequality for over 10 years. Committed to sharing her story of triumph and victory, she has published her first book – My Side of the Story. A compelling book of poetic stories from the perspective of a person who lived through the shadows of death and through everything rised above all to achieve her only dream, HAPPINESS. This memoir plans to give life to that side of her life that everyone always thought they knew, but really had no idea.

Charron Monaye's gift of poetry and love for addressing social issues was first witnessed when she appeared on the United Negro College Fund Telethon, at the age of 12, reciting her award-winning poem ALONE. Since then, she always relied on her pencil and notebook as a way of releasing her happiest moments, deepest secrets, and hidden desires without having to be judged or looked upon as being different among family and friends. Her diary entries soon became poetic pieces that she later performed or entered into local poetry contest. She has blessed many mics, touched many hearts, and made people realize poetry is more than words in rhythmic stanzas; it is a mere expression of one's life, emotions, and experiences. Everyone who has heard her speak can relate to her need for love, her struggle, and the pain she has felt, endured and overcome.
