Purpose: The book is aimed at the neuro-oncology multidisciplinary team assembled to care for patients with nervous system neoplasms. The authors, which represent renowned neuro-oncology sections, provide a comprehensive review of the pathology, genetics, radiology, and clinical features of benign and malignant tumors of the nervous system. The editors take particular care to choose experts from diverse centers and expertise on the topic.
Audience: It is designed for all members of the multidisciplinary team caring for patients with neuro-oncological conditions, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, and radiation and medical oncologists, as well as clinical nurse specialists, neuropsychologists, and allied health professionals.
Features: All benign and malignant tumors of the nervous system are covered, as well as metastases and the neurological complications of cancer and its treatments. Pediatric brain tumors are well covered. A particularly helpful chapter covers the complications of bone marrow and organ transplantation. This is an area many neuro-oncology books do not cover in detail.
Assessment: This is an excellent book that physicians caring for patients with neuro-oncological disease should have on their shelves. It is another example of the excellent Blue Books in Neurology series. It is nice to see the tradition continue.
