Not Dead Enough (Project Rebellion: SARA, #1) by Mina Carter

She was planning a divorce. Her ex was planning a funeral. Hers.

Painted as a gold-digging scarlet woman by her powerful ex, the darling son of their town, Julia Collier is despised by all. She can't even shop in the local store without suffering abuse from her fellow townsfolk, and that's before the late night calls or her ex's bully-boys following her.

When her home is broken into, Julia realizes that there are worst things out there in the night. Things like the vampires holding her and other women captive in some kind of sick breeding experiment. Bitten and wounded, she needs to escape, survive, and bring help for the others…

Help comes from an unlikely source. Soldiers who claim to be from the same facility that created the vampires who took her. Soldiers who claim not to be human at all but the undead. Hot, ripped zombies? And she’s rapidly falling for one… what woman would fall for a zombie?

Unless the undead aren't dead at all, but something more than human, from a world she'll need all her wits and new abilities to survive the battle between the undead...and the dead.

There is life after death. No one told him it would be the same one...

Brett was a soldier, until the Project killed him. Now he's finding that life after death isn't so hot. With the Project base destroyed, he and his team have been tasked with running down and destroying a group of rogue vampires. Unfortunately the vampires always seem to be one step ahead.

Then they start kidnapping women. Whatever reasons they have, Brett knows it can’t be good. When team catch a break and arrive just after the last victim is taken, they pursue with a vengeance. If they can get to her before the creatures kill her, then they might just figure out what the vampires are up to…

Until she drops into his arms, half converted, and he realizes that, vampire or not, he’ll kill to protect her…

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading “Not Dead Enough”.  It was well-written, easy-to-read, and fast-paced.  I finished it in one sitting.  I was captivated from the very first word.  I loved Julia.  She was a very strong woman in a town that hated her because of the lies her soon to be ex was spreading.  I wouldn’t have been able to face the type of hatred she received from the townspeople.  She was also so matter of fact with her kidnapping and everything that happened to her.  She took it all very well, no meltdown for Julia.    Brett made my heart go pitter patter.  He was alpha male and knew Julia was his the minute he saw her, heard her heartbeat.  It’s one of my favorite things about paranormal romance, that instant mate.  Brett was going to keep Julia safe even if he had to take on his friends and fellow S.A.R.A.’s. Overall, this was a great book that left me with a smile and wanting a S.A.R.A. of my own. 4-Bombs Reviewed by Tracy

I look for two things in a book, grabbing my attention from the start and characters I can like. I am enjoying the series and happy I found it. I do wish we had some closure on a few characters, but they may come later.

Fun to read, and a bit of a twist on the usual for a paranormal romance. I'm liking the zombie action! Who woulda thought the undead could be so smokin' hot?? Can't wait for the next one!

Not sure how I feel about this story. Normally I love everything Mina writes, including the Reaper books; but the whole Zomie thing has me a little creeped out. I kept getting visuals of grey skin and open wounds; which made it hard to find the romance sexy or the characters hot. Dont know if I will persue this series.

'I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review' I love Zombies! Even the ones that aren't brain eaters. lol. Mina brought us a different breed of Zombies with some Vampires thrown into the mix. I liked all of the characters except for the bad ones of course. There is love, friendship, different types of loss, evil Vampires and Sexy Zombies. What more could you ask for? If I wasn't already a fan of Mina's this book definitely would have made me one! I highly recommend reading. <3 'Read and Reviewed by LSK Sweetheart Reviews'

I loved this story better than the first two in the series. This was action and dialoge I could understand and love with all her books. I hope another one comes sooner tan later. This book isnt your typical zombie and vampire book but its filled with possibilities and more than enough chemistry to keep you wanting more.

Can anyone please tell me why I haven't read any of the books in the Project Rebellion series before? Anyone? I'm familiar with Ms. Carter's writing. I've read and reviewed her work before. But this story? *whistles* I'm blown away by it! It is awesome to see a fresh take on zombies. Brett and his crew, Re-Animates according to the people who made him what he was, are dead through and through, but they possess abilities that make them more than brainless flesh-eaters. They can stop and start their hearts. They self-heal. They're fast, silent, and insanely strong. They are, in short, the ultimate fighting machines. While they hunt Bloods (vampires), they encounter a human woman who bears a bite mark signifying her turning. Crazy as it is, Brett's attraction to the woman is more than physical. It's molecular, which was incredible. Much like vampires and shifters who can scent their mate, Brett was able to realize on a subconscious level that Julia was his mate. He went berserk on his teammates for speaking ill of her, snapped at one of them when he wanted to check her injuries after they found her. I like that he didn't fight his attraction to her, despite the fact that she was a Blood and his enemy through no fault of her own. Turning wasn't her choice and I was so glad he didn't hold it against her. This story moves fast and is incredibly detailed. Ms. Carter's angle on zombies was refreshing. Her snappy style and dialogue kept me turning the pages on my tablet, and she combined those both with strong characters. Brett and Julia weren't opposites or objects of compensation for what the other lacked. They balanced each other, found strength in their feelings for one another, and a purpose in being together: hunt Bloods and keep the humans safe. 4.5* ***Received from Wickedly Innocent Promotions for an honest review***

This one is about the SARAs or otherwise known as zombies they are the good guys in this series the Bloods are mostly bad also known as vampires. A government experiment done on soldiers gone awry. Liked the characters would like to learn more about them. Could have been longer but good.

I never thought that I would find a zombie sexy but Mina Carter totally proved me wrong! I was sucked in from the first page. It was an action packed and sexy read! Julia is such a strong person. I really admire her will and tenacity. Her soon to be ex husband has everyone believing such horrible lies about her and its causing major hostility in the town she's living in only for her to be kidnapped by monsters. She stayed very strong through it all and never gave up. I adored Brett. He's so sweet and funny. Also really bad ass! I love how protective and caring he is towards Julia. I love that he calls her his sweet pea too. This was an incredibly fast and fun read. With some humor and lots of action. I cant wait to read more in this series and hopefully more with the rest of the SARAs.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. What did I like? I like the new take on zombies and how they are created. I love that the females (even the one considered weak) were actually emotionally strong females when it came down to the wire.  What did I not like? I'm sad that they weren't able to help Kelwood's wife and the question of the daughter is still out there. Recommendation: I'm looking forward to where this series goes.

Where do I start,I am a huge fan of Zombie stories... When Mina mentioned this was not typical Zombie story, i was intrigued but slightly wary. I should not have worried! Mina Carter created a fascinating world full of Zombies (S.A.R.A) Self Aware Re-Animate , Vampires (Bloods) and yes there are Lycans though we dont really see them in this story. The government is using soldiers to test on and these boys are fighting back! Julia is thrown into the world of PNR and takes to it like a pro! The chemistry flies off the page between Julia and Brett. The bond between Brett and his "brothers" is tangible and just as explosive as you would expect. I am very, very eager to see more of the S.A.R.A and the whole world!
