Many of us stumbled into Jesus and discovered the one we'd been searching for all our lives, whether we knew it or not. He told us everything was going to be alright. He was a best friend who whispered that he loved us to the exact extent his father loved him. He saw everything we did yet refused to condemn us ever. He was an incredibly powerful and supernatural God who could actually change the outcome of our horror into beauty.
Then enter shame, time, failure, disappointment, and bad teaching. We learned to see him as disgusted that we haven t shaped up by now. We now have a hard time reading the words of Jesus without feeling he's telling us we re not enough and we should be better, after all he s done for us. And we pull back, not as easily daring to trust him with us, less willing to trust his plans, life and destiny for us.
What if that voice didn't exist for us?
What if we could read his voice, hear his voice, without an artificial, religious filter?
And what if we discovered he has been caring about us, speaking to us, wooing us, entering into our daily events, from the very start, long before we took even a hint of interest in him?
On My Worst Day allows us to watch one person s journey to re-discovering that voice of Jesus. We are allowed to imagine what Jesus might be saying to us in our best and worst, our horrid disasters and funniest moments. We will cry, laugh, and find ourselves in every story. And we will walk away changed; drenched with hope, and the best friend we found at the start.

As a world-class communicator, John is a vital Trueface staff member. In addition to speaking internationally with the Trueface team since 1997, John has co-authored The Cure, Bo’s Café, Behind The Mask, and his own story, On My Worst Day. The authenticity, longevity, and playfulness of these two communities, Trueface and Open Door, bring real-world reality and potency to the message of Trueface. John used his love for theater as a playwright and actor in Sharkey Productions, a troupe focused on gospel-anchored theater productions for those still seeking Jesus.
John and his wife Stacey often create inviting environments on their backyard patio and elsewhere for people to enjoy authentic community. They are passionate parents to their three children, Caleb married to Kali, with granddaughters Maci and Payton; Amy married to Cody, with grandson Ridge; and Carly..
Most Helpful Customer Reviews
This book is now at the top of my "best ever read.". Rarely can I recommend a book as fully as I can recommend this one. John invites us to walk the journey with him through his good, bad and ugly days revealing the ever presence of God with him in every step of the path before him. It breathes hope to those who find themselves walking difficult roads where life just doesn't make sense. It awakens the senses to a new dimension of the fierce love of a God who never leaves us or forsakes us even when the darkest hour seems to be upon us. John Lynch reveals the very real, tender, endearing heart of God with him amidst life and it's moments. Sometimes the road is treacherous. Other times it is filled with pleasant surprises, but always it is filled with the presence of God. What I love the most is the vulnerability and raw honesty in which John exposes his life for the world to know... and the beauty of how God shows up and reveals that even on his worst day... there is always a fierce, abounding, accepting love. I loved this book, simply loved it. Well done, my friend, well done!
Such an amazing story. John's wisdom has been very impactful!! Grateful for his strength, courage and wisdom
John Lynch tells an authentic story of a child of the 60's transformed by God's crazy love into a true "man after God's own heart"! He's put so much of himself into telling a story of the Father's Grace that there must be only a skin suit left behind that his friends drag out every so often and shake their heads over! Thank you, John, for your way with words, your love for family, and your beautiful transparency. John's story of Grace and redemption reveals a unique child of God whom his friends and family must truly treasure. Makes me wish I could spend a long evening over a good cigar with him and hear more. Bill and Bruce must be truly blessed men to call him "friend".
I started reading this book while waiting for my car to be repaired. Sitting in the lobby, I laughed and I cried. John's writing is real. As he walks through his life, we, the reader, get to see that the presence of God is real. I enjoyed "Bo's Cafe", but I loved "On My Worst Day." This is the kind of book I want to read again and to give as a gift for my friends.
