Efraim Diveroli always knew what he wanted to be when he grew up – an international arms dealer.

From the time he was a young Jewish Orthodox kid growing up in Miami Beach, he loved guns. Dropping out of high school in the 9th grade and shipped off to Los Angeles, he started working as a stock boy and apprentice salesperson for his uncle's police supply business at age 14. He proved a quick study, and by 16, he was selling guns, ammo, and tactical equipment to local law enforcement. Eventually, he moved back to Miami, took over a shell company his father had once incorporated called AEY, Inc. And starting with nothing more than a laptop, a cell phone, and a water bong (and some weed), Diveroli quickly gained success beyond his years by supplying everything from goggles to grenades – mostly to his biggest customer – the U.S. Government. By age 18, Diveroli had become a self-made millionaire. This was his American dream.

At the age of 21, Diveroli became the government's go-to-guy when his company beat out giant Fortune 500 companies to win a massive, nearly $300 million contract with the Pentagon to supply weapons and munitions for the U.S. Army and the allied security forces in their fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

He effectively procured, managed and delivered colossal shipments of weapons and artillery into the war zone, mostly all while being either drunk, high, or coked-up... and sometimes all three - while living the excessive lifestyle of a rock star - until the government turned on him, and it all came crashing down.

In this memoir, Once A Gun Runner... gives you raw, intimate, and unadulterated access to the details and experiences, which made Efraim Diveroli the world's youngest international arms dealer. This is his story!

I just finished reading and was fascinated by this book! Efraim Diveroli was born to be an international arms dealer. This is the story of that. But for me, more than that I was totally impressed by Diveroli's courageous honesty - his uncanny business sense, his human vulnerability, his raw emotions, his acknowledged narcissism and youthful naivety – all of which and more authentically spew from each page of this memoir. This book is intimate. He conscientiously shares his highs and lows, the good, the bad, and the ugly - all in incredibly candid and graphic detail, whether about his business dealings or his personal life. So much so, that many people close to him may not be as delighted to read it as I was, but Diveroli seems to be on some crazy cathartic self-inflicted collision-course quest to just simply tell the truth - exactly the way it happened - no matter how painful the truth may be to him, or others. This book is an expose’. It unmasks how the government attempts to keep its hands clean by using third party vendors like AEY to help fight their battles around the world. It exposes the seamy underbelly of the global arms trade and some of the scandalous characters associated with it. And it brings to light how the U.S. Government reacts when circumstances go awry, and how it will turn on you in the flick of an eyelash, and make you the scapegoat, while unscrupulously, ruthlessly and unrelentingly trying to save itself from the creation of its own embarrassment. This book is real. This is not some reconstituted news account of what happened. But rather it is the very personal and gritty journey of Efraim Diveroli, a larger-than-life kid who overcame his obstacles to achieve very high-level success at a very young age, at a very high personal cost, while having many personal demons to deal with along the way. In some parts, a classic tale of too much, too soon. We’re talking sex, drugs and rock and roll! At times, this book is not for the faint of heart. And make no mistake, this book is also funny - very funny, I’d even say hilarious in parts. I laughed out loud. This book is addictive. He captures your attention, immerses you in, and whisks you away on a fast-paced technicolor ride into his outlandish world and makes you turn each page with baited anticipation. Efraim Diveroli is clearly ambitious and driven. He’s smart and savvy. But yet we’re often reminded that he’s still just a boy becoming a man. At times you’ll love him, and other times you’ll hate him. He’s both genius and recklessly stupid. He’s very approachable and at other times unabashedly arrogant. He’s sometimes mature beyond his age, and yet often completely childish. And sometimes, maybe a little too self-righteous. Like most of us, he’s complicated. But more than anything he’s incredibly honest, and that’s what this book is truly about. The point is – he doesn’t attempt to be something he’s not. He doesn’t try to make himself look better than he is. He’s a flawed human being and he knows it, and more importantly, he lets us know it. This is a story of his very high highs, and very low lows. Outsized astronomical success, and unbelievable personal devastation. Diveroli seamlessly walks you through his remarkable life – and then ultimately his feelings of redemption - all while making you feel like a co-pilot on this crazy and outrageous jet-fueled ride of his young life. Once A Gun Runner is a great read. I enthusiastically recommend!

Straightforward, suspenseful and true! I had heard about these young guys who became gun runners and got a big military contract, so decided to give it a read. I was really impressed with this book. I now feel like I know Efraim and what makes him tick. He's a crazy and smart dude with a lot of ambition and drive. Did I say crazy!? It was great to read his story directly from him and learn how things really happened. This is a big story. I found myself not being able to put it down. This book is really provocative and interesting. Read it!

Equal parts swagger and smarts! This book is a kind of thrill ride seen through the eyes of Efraim Diveroli, the young gunrunner himself. I had to keep reminding myself that this story is true. But Diveroli shows his straightforwardness and vulnerability throughout, even though he possesses the swashbuckle of a pirate who’s just come ashore. Smart, funny and thoroughly entertaining!

Just finished this memoir...it was awesome! I thought it was interesting that the cover read "The Real Story" and now I understand why because in my opinion, any other account of Efraim Diveroli's life pales in comparison. Who better to tell the story than the person that lived through it all? This is the REAL DEAL people and a MUST READ.

Get ready for a roller coaster ride--this book is amazing. Aside from being funny, educational and an exciting page-turner it is an amazing true story. I actually had to keep reminding myself that this really happened! A young kid from Miami takes on huge corporations and the US Government, WINS---but the cost of winning is high. There are other things that have been written about this young man Efraim but none are told by the person that actually experienced it and none as well written as the Once a Gun Runner memoir. Skip the other books, I highly recommend this book. It is now officially the only book in the history of ever that I have read TWICE back-to-back.

Once you turn the first page you will never want to put this book down! This is an absolute MUST READ! I read Arms and Dudes which I THOUGHT was Efraim's book. Little did I know that Once a Gun Runner is the only authorized book or account of the story out there. It is much better written than anything I have read out there and I have followed this story of Efraim since the beginning. This story is so amazing that even Hollywood wants to do a movie about it--- but even then---you know the film will pale in comparison to the actual real story that is detailed in this memoir. If you haven't read this yet, put it at the top of your list!

Hands down – a must-read!!! After reading it cover-to-cover, I have fallen in love with this book. Efraim Diveroli is everything you would expect an international arms dealer to be – strikingly handsome, charming, charismatic, ambitious and driven, at the same time, he is also very funny, warm-hearted, down-to-earth and approachable. Someone who has grown tremendously by the experiences that life has given him. He put his heart & soul into this book and it shows. I highly recommend this novel as it would appeal to readers from all walks of life – it is a firsthand account of what really happened, and much more fulfilling than arms and the dudes, a Hollywood movie or whatever article is out there. - Anna Chacon, MD – physician & author
