Happily married for a little over five years Sam and her husband Steve are still very much in love with one another. Both have top well paid professional jobs but sadly when they reach that time of life they want to start a family, like so many other couples, they find out that they are unable to have children.
After tests, Steve discovers he will never be able to father children. At first distraught by the bad news, the couple consider their options one by one. First they look at the idea of adoption. But as safe as adoption agencies are, Sam herself adopted wants to be certain of who the father is, their background, upbringing etc.
The same consideration is carefully given to artificial insemination, but this too is discounted, as they regard this as being too impersonal and with the same possible drawbacks of adoption.
Quite by chance, a friend of one of Sam's client's puts the couple on to an alternative method of making her pregnant that sounds feasible and more traditional. Potentially regarded by some as rather unorthodox, this highly simple method of conceiving offers everything the couple both want. Has Sam a deeper need to take another man, or is it that she just wants a baby - or both, as they elect to have her inseminated by a stranger.
