About the Author

Palladius of Galatia was bishop of Helenopolis in Bithynia, and a devoted disciple of Saint John Chrysostom. He is best remembered for his work, the Lausiac History, from which these sayings derive.

Sir Ernest Alfred Wallis Budge (trans.) an English Egyptologist, who was for many years the keeper of the Egyptian Dept. of the British Museum and published numerous works on the ancient Near East.
