Pattern Breakers
Pattern Breakers is intended to offer people a way to manage their life and a career in customer service. It's a guidebook on how to understand our clients and ourselves better. Although, the same principles can be applied to all people within the service industry—tattoo artists, estheticians, massage therapists, nail technicians, bartenders, dentists, doctors, nurses, the list is endless. If you're a person who provides a service, and works one-on-one with individuals in a close environment, this book is written for you. It will assist you in creating healthy patterns and maintaining boundaries in the workplace and beyond. This book is sectioned out to help you understand yourself before you try to understand your clients. It is not to be powered through in an afternoon. You'll want to reference back as you practice the concepts expressed. It is a workbook that you'll want to revisit many times over.

You're invited to begin a journey of self-exploration, exploring techniques for building a stable foundation of self-care. It begins with recognizing and understanding your patterns, establishing healthy boundaries, and cultivating a practice of empathy. As you build upon this foundation, you will find opportunities to achieve, acquire and cultivate what you desire in life and in your career.

About the Author

Daniel Jacob Hill is a hairstylist, yoga instructor, and writer based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Daniel’s expertise behind the chair led him to be a national educator for UNITE for nearly a decade. His passion for education and growth led him to writing.
Daniel joined UNITE as an Educator in 2009. Before leaving the company in 2018 he taught classes in hair cutting and hair styling, while managing the UNITE Academy in San Diego, California in 2013. Believing so strongly in continued education, Daniel obtained a Associate of Science degree from Salt Lake Community College in Psychology.
His expertise behind the chair created opportunities for him to work backstage at New York Fashion Week, Sundance Film Festival, and Ballet West.
His love for the theater created a path for him to join Utah Opera and Symphony in 2012 as a wig and makeup artist. He had the opportunity to be the wig and make-up designer for Utah Operas productions of The Long Walk (2017), co-designer of Don Giovanni (2017), and La Boheme (2017).
Currently focusing on his passion for uplifting others, he spends his time working in a salon, teaching yoga class, writing, and building the Pattern Breakers community.
