Changes in established routine and procedures in organizations both large and small are commonly resisted by individuals and groups unless they are non-threatening or are an improvement in the work environment. The book "Perfect Phrases for Communicating Change" by Polsky and Gerschel approach the subject of the necessity of change using examples for many different situations with great realism and sensitivity. The authors understand and analyze the effect of change on the morale and efficiency of the organization and they accomplish brilliantly to overcome the inherent fears and apprehensions by proposing intelligent phrases or expression to communicate the inevitability of change. As a retired engineer from a large US Corporation I would make Perfect Phrase mandatory reading by those individuals charged with implementing new policies or change.
I predict this book will become a primer for all managers in both small and large organizations.
