Purpose: The purpose is to present perianesthesia knowledge essential to practice in both hospital-based and freestanding settings. The goal is to positively impact quality patient care by assisting nurses with the essential specialty competencies. The authors have defined clear and valuable objectives which they achieve in this book.
Audience: This is an excellent resource for nurses preparing for one of the professional certification examinations, such as CPAN or CAPA. It is a valuable study guide for nurses new to the perianesthesia setting. Additionally, it could be used to structure an orientation program for nurses entering this specialty. The authors and contributors are experienced in this specialty area.
Features: The book is well organized in an outline format for use as a study tool, although it is not to be used as a comprehensive study guide. Its seven sections focus on addressing the nursing competencies. This resource is intended to help readers identify areas that may need reinforcement or further understanding.
