About the Author

Charlotte Cushman holds a B.A. from Bowdoin College and an M.ED. in special Education from Lesley University. After working at Perkins School for the Blind for many years, Ms. Cushman was a special education teacher in Malawi with the Peace Corps. Following that, she worked as an education consultant in Maine for the New England Center Deafblind Project and Catholic Charities of Maine. She is now working at Perkins again as a Project Manager for the Training and Educational Resources Program and continues to do international work as a consultant for Perkins International.
