About the Author

I was born and raised in Scunthorpe, a steel town in the North of England, where the water is so hard it leaves bruises when you drink it. I had a blast at Sheffield City Poly studying mathematical modelling, useful for sorting out global pandemics. Since we weren’t fortunate enough to have any of these in the late 80s, I became a teacher. Later, wanting more time to do essential things like eat and sleep, I took jobs in the insurance industry. This was also great fun, and meeting loads of strange people informed many of my stories in Pinch Points. I also relocated to Leeds, where I still live with my wife and three small, but growing daughters. I’ve always been mad for books and music and art. I’ve also had lots of other fabulous jobs such as running a fancy-dress business and working for the Met Police. It’s been an absolute privilege to meet and share adventures with so many wonderful people.
