Kat Ramsey hasn't a clue that she's a witch. That is, until she accidentally hops into the Otherworld, and runs smack into Matthew Ryan?the seriously hot one-night stand from years ago who shoved her out of his dorm. Naked.
And there's the tiny matter of the curse she gave him.
May you never find satisfaction with another woman. Billionaire and former druid Matthew Ryan hasn't forgotten the curse, or the witch who gave it to him. Kat's unexpected return means the curse will finally be broken. Unfortunately, his libido has other ideas?like how to get her back into his bed one last time. About the Author
Zoe Forward is a hopeless romantic who can't decide between paranormal and urban fantasy romance. So, she writes both. In addition to being a mom to one rambunctious kindergartener and wife to a conservation ecologist who plans to save all the big cats on the planet, she's a small animal veterinarian caring for all the small furries, although there is the occasional hermit crab.
When she's not typing at her laptop, she's tying on a karate belt for her son or cleaning up the newest pet mess from the menagerie that occupies her house. She's madly in love with her globe-trotting husband of ten years and happiest when he returns to their home base in North Carolina.

Buzzing electrified Kat Ramsey's brain. She jolted upright in bed, now fully awake. Her body tingled, and her chest cranked so tight that she gasped for air. This signaled an imminent jump to a different reality. Air chilled her upper body. One glance down and ... she was naked? Oh, no. I can't jump to that other place naked!
The jumps to the Otherworld came at random. And, thank God, they didn't happen often. The last time was five years ago, after a motorboat explosion killed her parents and threw her from the boat.
She never slept bare out of terror that this might happen. Clothes ... get clothes. Her retinas burned as she squinted against the early light of dawn filtering through the dorm room's mini-blinds. Where am I? This wasn't her room.
She rocked to move out of the bed, but found herself anchored. She yanked the sheet off the lower half of her body. A male arm draped her lap. She wheezed out, "Oh God."
The hand curved around her bare thigh. And caressed. The gentle sweeps of his fingers sensitized every nerve in the vicinity. Half of her mind freaked out that there was a guy stroking her nude thigh. The other part recognized the hand, and him. And screamed, Oh yeah. The tug-o-war in her brain turboed the humming into pulsating pain.
Memories of the wild things she'd done with him — Matt Ryan — slideshowed in her mind. Maybe the pain in her skull was the aftereffect of those Purple Passion drinks and not an imminent reality-shift warning.
His fingers continued to electrify the skin of her thigh.
"Where am I?" she asked. This room, and him, were in that different reality, Otherworld as she liked to call it. Last night, she'd entered her dorm room in her world after a study marathon to discover her four-month super crush and chem-lab partner sucking face with her roommate. The next minute she'd reality jumped into a dark corner of a rowdy frat party. With her emotions running high, she'd immediately dipped a sixteen-ounce plastic cup into a barrel of purple drink.
His fingers teased across her lap as he rolled to his back and threw an arm over his face. An intricate blue Celtic tattoo decorated the inside of his right wrist.
Her heart raced. She denied the urge to bolt from the bed, not out of respect for his feelings, but out of self-preservation against the pounding inside her skull.
"My head is killing me." He struggled to a sit-prop against the headboard and pressed his thumb into the side of his forehead. At least he, too, suffered. The guy had consumed as many of those drinks as she. Her gaze drifted down his body. The guy was stunning from buzz cut to chiseled chest. The striped sheet barely covered the substantial bulge in his lap. As her mind filled in the gaps hidden by the sheet, her cheeks burned.
Holy cow, she'd just slept with the hottest guy in the universe. She, the super science geek. The you-go-girl side of her brain wahooed. The rational side of her brain spat out a resounding, Oh shit. She'd never slept with a guy before. She definitely didn't do one-nighters. She'd had several major crushes and three awkward dates since she started undergrad a year and a half ago. And she'd gotten drunk at one frat rush party, but even then she'd kept her clothes on. Other guys barely pushed her body beyond lukewarm. She remained in control and her mind rational, which meant she talked herself out of proceeding in every case.
Until Matt. One kiss and she'd practically attacked him when he discovered her in that dark corner of the party last night. He'd been the one to put on the brakes, renew their drinks, and try to converse over the pulsating music. After two more plastic cups of Everclear enriched Kool-Aid, they were on the dance floor. Then in this room. And, crap, had they used protection?
She closed her eyelids and pressed a finger into her left eye, not that it resolved the lacerating pain.
"Your head hurt, too, wildcat?" The deep, sexy rumble of his voice sent tingles down her arms.
Her gaze snapped to his.
Concern smoldered in his deep blue eyes. "Here let me take care of it." He brushed aside her auburn bangs and laid a finger against her forehead. The pain fizzled into nothing.
What had he done? Maybe he was like her — not quite normal. Maybe he hid a few magical abilities. She'd searched her whole life to find someone else with gifts. Someone who could tell her why she had these talents. She sifted through her memories for clues to indicate he might be different. Nothing emerged. Disappointed, she concluded he must've hit an acupuncture point or something.
He rolled his wrist to view his watch. "I've got a rot-zee run in thirty minutes, but ..." His tone dripped with suggestion. "I could be persuaded to miss."
"ROTC. Almost all the guys in this frat are ROTC."
Idiotic question. Of course she knew what that was. She'd just never considered herself a soldier groupie. "What time is it?" She scanned the floor for her watch, but identified only his abandoned dark T-shirt and jeans on her side of the bed, and nothing of hers.
"'Bout five forty-five."
"I've got a chem midterm in two hours." She needed to get home to her reality pronto, not that she had any control over when she jumped worlds or where she'd end up. But this time the shift had to happen. She'd already bombed two quizzes and needed to pass this test with flying colors or risk a GPA slide, and losing her scholarship.
"Well ... you could say we did some hard-core chemistry studying last night." He drew her tight to his chest and tucked her head beneath his chin. The heat of his body scorched her. His hoarse voice dropped to a whisper. "Sorry. That was cheesy."
She squirmed against him for freedom, even though her body begged her to melt into him. She froze when her butt hit his arousal.
"Don't go." The tremor in his voice tugged at her heart. With a finger on her chin, he turned her head and forced her to meet his gaze. "Please, stay."
His deep blues sucked her in, calmed her. And tempted her. Maybe last night had been as earth-shattering for him as she remembered it had been for her.
His lips touched hers. His tongue tickled the seam of her lips until she opened. Then the kiss deepened. Powerful, all consuming, aggressive. His hands plowed through her hair as he pulled her close until there was no space between them. He groaned when her fingers curled into his shoulders.
His touch made her head spin. It felt ... right. Perfect. His hand trailed from the back of her neck down her spine, each touch light, not rushed. A soft moan echoed from somewhere deep inside her.
"God, you're amazing," he mumbled.
She smiled against his lips and kissed him harder. He cupped one hand around her breast, nibbled the sensitive flesh of her ear, and licked down her throat. She begged silently, Please don't stop.
A pounding on his dorm room door was followed by a feminine scream. "Who's in there with you, Matt? Shawn said you've got a party slut in there."
He pulled away and whooshed out, "Shit." He ran a hand over his head and rubbed his eyes.
"Who's that?" she asked as the passion haze cleared from her mind.
The pounding intensified. "Open up!" A loud thud whacked the door.
He scooted to the edge of the bed and massaged his forehead. He pushed to a wobbly stand and pulled on his jeans.
The moment he unlocked the door a perfectly coiffed blonde in a sorority sweatshirt shoved past him and pointed at Kat. "Who the hell is that?" The girl's thoughts bombarded Kat's mind, courtesy of her magical gift that worked on every person other than Matt. Did you even tell her you had a girlfriend?
Kat's heart cramped tight and then shattered. She managed to loosen the sheet and wind it around her as she slid out of the bed to stand. A desperate floor scan confirmed no evidence of her clothes.
Tears poured down the blonde's cheeks. "Matt? How could you?" She clung to him like a life preserver. The girl thought, I love you. I was going to marry you.
He mumbled something low to the girl, their familiar intimacy obvious.
"Get her out of here!" the girl screeched and then thought, She's not even pretty. Her high-pitched wailing burned Kat's ears.
A few guys crowded the doorway with too-curious leers. Matt pinched the bridge of his nose, and waved the guys away. He disentangled himself from the blonde and pushed Kat toward the door. "You'd better go."
She blinked against the sting of tears. Fury curled in her stomach. She narrowed her eyes, and slapped him. She gritted out, "May you never find satisfaction with another woman."
He paled and stepped back. He massaged his chest over his heart and whispered, "Did you just curse me?"
Like she knew how to do that. She tried to remember what she'd just uttered, but her emotions were running too hot to think clearly. At least he admitted belief in the supernatural. That didn't mean he had mysterious gifts like her, but it didn't matter. He was history.
Magical energy revved deep in her chest, warning of an imminent world shift. She spied her bra hanging off a lamp. Her pants lay near the mini-refrigerator. But fury and the terror of disappearing with an audience pushed her to forget them. She stalked to the door wrapped in the sheet, head held high and slammed it behind her. But she didn't miss Matt's bellow, "Did you curse me?"CHAPTER 2
A decade later ...
The timeless chords of a swing-era favorite filtered between the whirling vertigo in Kat Ramsey's brain. She attempted an eyelid crack. Light scorched her retinas. Too soon for vision.
She stumbled backward, bumping into a wall. With her eyelids sealed shut, she waited for her vision to stabilize.
It had happened again — the bizarre world shift. Moments ago she'd been modeling her newest online super-sale find in front of her full-length bedroom mirror. The strappy designer high heels worked with the spaghetti-strap black gown she'd purchased a year ago. Then her brain went dizzy and poof ... now she was here, wherever here might be, in Otherworld.
The magical reality change wasn't time travel. Everything in Otherworld was the same year and similar technology, but it wasn't her home. Different people, different organizations, and slightly different politics.
The hum of many conversations at once registered in her ears as the chords of the familiar tune continued. The imperfections of the music suggested a live band. She squinted. Her eyes burned, but she forced them to stay open. Nearby a horde of elegantly dressed women verbally one-upped each other and sipped at cocktails. The glut of jaw-dropping designer formal wear and sparkly jewels suggested a high-society shindig. Her dress was appropriate, even if it was off-the-rack.
Between one blink and the next, her eyes gave the thumbs-up on twenty-twenty again. A large banner along the far wall proclaimed, "Rose Center Juvenile Diabetes Benefit sponsored by Ryan Corp." The pamphlets lining the wall near her indicated this was the Natural Science Center in New York City.
Her heart raced, and she forced herself to swallow. Legs still wobbly, she continued leaning against the wall.
Pull yourself together. You've done this four times before. You'll get through this and go home. She focused on the physical act of breathing. Air in. Air out. Air in. Air out.
A waiter paused in front of her with a tray of glasses filled with white wine. Kat took one and thanked him.
She pushed away from the wall and sipped the wine. The rich, buttery flavor of chardonnay coated her palate and soothed her dry throat. "Mmm," she mumbled. This isn't the cheap stuff.
A horde of people crowded her, and she started to move away, but a male body smashed into her. The three-inch incline she'd forced her feet into was no match for a battering ram.
With lightning speed her unintentional attacker pulled her tight to his chest.
Thank God the wine didn't spill.
"Pardon me," a husky male baritone murmured. He didn't release her.
Startled to find herself walled in by the heat of a seriously intimidating, hard, male body, she backed up a step, forcing her savior to let go. "Thanks," she murmured.
One glance up and her lungs went on strike. This guy was built big. Uncompromising raw power in a six-foot-something package met her stare. A thin, sexy scar over his right cheek suggested he might not have had a pampered heritage. He was gorgeous. Forget gorgeous. He was utterly, mind-blowingly handsome.
The corners of his lips tipped upward into a seductive half smile. A smile she knew too well — Matthew Ryan.
"Are you enjoying yourself, Ms. Ramsey?" His gaze traveled to her chest and followed the line of the silver chain that disappeared between her breasts. His gaze darted up to hers. They scorched with the offer of sex and any carnal fantasy she dared conjure.
"Matt?" Sensation so intense it bordered on pain flooded her body, as if every cell had suddenly jolted to life. Her skin tingled, tight and hot.
"So you do remember who I am."
She wished she could squelch the flush that heated her cheeks, and the compulsive need to moisten her lips. "I'm not really enjoying myself so much. No." She took another step back, needing to distance herself from him. Her body might still light up for the bastard as instantly as the first time she'd met him a decade ago. But the memory of his rejection remained etched into her memory like a bad tattoo. Indignant hatred surged. She tried to catch his thoughts, but got nothing from him. Not even an impression of his emotions. He was still the only person she'd ever met from whom she couldn't pick up mental ramblings.
"No? Aren't you supposed to be polite and tell your host this is the best party you've ever attended?" His lips quirked upward into a grin, flashing a set of perfect dimples.
Ryan Corporation. Matthew Ryan. Damn.
She glanced around. Distractedly she said, "Looks like a great party." Detailed male reviews of her anatomy, and women dissing every aspect of her appearance overloaded her brain. She massaged her temple against the seed of an excruciating migraine. Focus, she ordered herself. Stop catching everyone's thoughts.
The attention didn't surprise her. His presence commanded notice. Success and confidence seeped from his pores. As did power.
Her head pain pushed into the pulse-throbbing phase, and she winced, rubbing a spot on her temple.
The cold clamminess of nausea had her swallowing hard. She forced a smile. She would not show weakness. Not in front of him.
You will not puke. "I don't often attend this type of event. I admit this wine is excellent." She tilted the glass to her lips. One whiff of the liquid's floral bouquet and she knew she shouldn't swallow. A childhood of ingrained social etiquette instructed she not spit the liquid back into the glass as her stomach demanded. Her Southern belle mother's horrified face swam in her brain. With determination she forced the liquid down. Her stomach clamped tight, warning her it would cope, but wasn't happy.
She chanced meeting his gaze — another colossal bad choice. Her nerves buzzed like a virgin facing her first kiss. She went for the wine again, not even realizing until it coated her taste buds.
The back of his fingers whisked across her exposed chest, briefly touching the chain. The delicate intimacy of the touch electrified all exposed skin. Wine caught in her throat, stimulating an immediate cough.
"Bit of glitter or something," he mumbled. The blue of his eyes smoldered when they lifted from her chest. He grinned as if he knew exactly the havoc his touch wreaked.
Kat wished she could come off as apathetic but her cheeks heated and she couldn't hold his gaze. Oddly, her head no longer throbbed. The nausea had also vanished. Usually it took hours when a crowd's thoughts overwhelmed her for the head pain to subside. There must be something to be said for distraction. Or, maybe Matt really did have magical capabilities.
She chanced meeting his gaze. The sexual invite in his deep blues shot her mind right into a scatterbrained fluster. A giggle almost escaped.
Was he trying to push them into the foreplay zone? Maybe this was his normal interaction with every woman he encountered. God knew his body was killer and his eyes promised satisfaction, something she knew he could deliver.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I've ever read by Zoe Forward. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I liked the blurb and when offered a review copy I said yes. I am SO, SO HAPPY that I did. I LOVED Protecting His Witch. I like paranormal books, but I sometimes feel like some things are overdone. There are too many vampires out there and too many shifters (I don't want to offend anyone - it's just my opinion). However we don't have enough books about witches. Everyone read the Harry Potter books years ago, but there aren't too many authors that write romance novels about witches. Zoe Forward did just that. Both Kat and Matthew are "witches." He's a druid and she's a Pleiades witch. While Matthew knows who and what he is Kat does not. She knows that she's different, but doesn't know why strange things happen to her and why she seems to hop from one world to the next. Kat is slightly insecure and a bit prudish. She's happiest around her animals and tends to avoid relationships. She's best friends with a gay man. Matthew is the definition of an arrogant playboy. While he doesn't intend to hurt anyone he does hurt Kat when she realizes soon after their first fling, that he has a girlfriend. Matthew is good looking and knows how to use it to his advantage with women. Things get steamy the first time Kat and Matthew meet. She rocks his world and then curses him. They don't meet again for several years, but the passion is still there the moment they see each other. I loved the world of the Druids and Pleiades that Zoe Forward created. Matthew had denied this world and Kat had never known about it, but both were pulled in and forced to become a part of it (that's as much as I can say about it without giving away details and spoilers). There are seven Pleiades witches. I'm hoping that Zoe Forward writes all 7 books because I can't wait to read more about them and their men. I give Protecting His Witch 4.25 stars! Check it out now! You won't be disappointed!

Matt was always searching for his perfect life & screwed it up royal with trying to settle for normal, but he needed to let in the crazy to let his heart find his one! Ms. Forward filled this romance with hilariousness with the h/h talking body parts narration & my kind of quirky & ROFL sayings like, Niagara Falls action, butt stubborn, ocular come ons & my favorite, catasstru*ucks! All romances need some sizzle & Ms. Forward had her h/h have tons of hard, pumping, moaning, undies scorching & paint peeling moments that dazzled & made my girlie part PURR! Now this tale had other dimensions flowing through the story, but Ms. Forward made it understandable & super fun to explore & learn all about it. Ms. Forward is a new-to-me author that I will be watching & gobbling up because she made me ROFL & hyperventilating, scream at the stupid male cast, whip out my dusty magic wand, taught me some really AWESOME words & took me on a supernatural rollercoaster ride that I will never forget! It's probably no shock to my romance peeps that I absolutely LOVED this book & Ms. Forward totally EARNED my top score of 5 fingers up & 10 toes for this paranormal romance! NetGalley ARC given for my honest review.
I have a stupid, sappy smile on my face. I really enjoyed this love story between Kat and Matt. It had the right balance of fantasy and reality without sounding unbelievable. Fast paced, quirky and smoking hot book. I'd definitely recommend this to someone who just loves a good romance. It's even better with the paranormal tossed in.
4.5 Hot Druid Protector Stars *I received a complimentary copy from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review* Boy did I enjoy this book. I usually like my PNR to be more about strong hairy shape shifters, dark and sexy vampires, or good old kinky demons…(or angels for that matter ;D), have nothing against magic, it just not as… attention grabbing to me. However, this book was excellent. It starts out a little confusing, like when you’re flipping through channels and you finally catch a film or series that seems interesting but you caught it 10 minutes in, so at first you’re kinda confused about what’s going on and who’s who. The first couple of chapters had me a little lost, I even went online to check if this was a follow up book from an ongoing series… When I confirmed it is the first (of many to come I hope) I just relaxed and got into it. And let me tell you it gets very good real fast. With a mix of Celtic culture and Ancient Greek mythology, I found the storyline fresh and exciting. Filled with action, magic, an anti-magic-fanatic-killer-secret-society, and a very steamy and hot destined-for-each-other couple, Protecting his Witch has everything I look for in a Paranormal book. It sets a great precedent for the coming installment in this new series, and I’m looking forward for the stories to come. I was slightly dissatisfied by the lack of epilogue (I know I always complain about this, but what can I do, I’m a sucker for a good peek at the actual HEA) but I’m confident that I’ll get to see the couple in future plots. This was a very engaging and fast reading book and I highly recommend to anyone who would enjoy a hot take charge druid protector alpha guy, a somewhat lost but persevering and very stubborn witch who doesn’t know what she really is and lots of hot, rip-my-clothes-off, can’t-take-my-hands-off-you-even-if-I-have-a-girlfriend, steamy sex from a destined couple.
I got this book for .99 and it was so good. I couldn't put it down. I don't like to say anything about the plot of this book but if you read all the rest of the reviews, as I did you will want to read this. I already picked up the next book.
This is the first in Zoe Forward’s Keeper of the Veil series. At 252 pages this book from Entangled Covet’s line was passionate, compelling, and sexy. I was immediately taken with this book in the first few pages. Kat Ramsey wakes up in an unfamiliar bed, and her powers are threatening to jump her into an alternate universe. Buck naked. Unable to control this jumping ability, she fights to find clothes when she realizes she isn’t alone. Matt Ryan has stolen my heart. For one, his dark, secretive nature--mixed with some badass--made the entire book for me. He’s burdened by responsibility, but when Kat comes back into his life for good after ten years, the reader discovers his passion, his secrets, and his undeniable sex appeal. I love how the author focuses completely on action and reaction with these two characters. They effect each other with wild desire, and you can feel that passion on the page as you read. The sensual scenes are hopeful and romantic, and full of blistering heat. The chemistry smoldering between Kat and Matt is scorching hot and mesmerizing and I can’t wait to see if they appear elsewhere in the series.
Kat and Matt are two passionate people from completely different worlds. (And yes, one of those worlds is a stuffy universe full of anal people who really do believe that witches should be forbidden to dance in public. I'm basically a rule breaker at heart, so this particular stricture annoyed the crap out of me. I've played the Footloose theme song more than once since I started the story and I kept hoping that the dimension-hopping heroine would find some way to grab Kevin Bacon's character and pull him into the plot for one bust-out, bust a move scene involving cheesy 80s soundtracks. Zoe Forward has a whole lot going on in her really original PNR universe. Her mythology is primarily Greek and largely unfamiliar to me. It's certainly original, but there were points when I felt lost. Rarely do I say, "Gee, this story needs more back story." "Gee, this story needs more back story." I'm not a (complete) idiot, so I managed to follow the gist of most of what was going on. A few finer points probably continue to elude me. To hit the hammer on the head: this is a paranormal, modern day Romeo and Juliette tale of star-crossed lovers who are surrounded by awful, rule-bound idiots on all sides (both friend and foe). Not to say that the annoying characters are cardboard. In fact, the author writes well-rounded and engaging secondary characters. You hate them. You feel sorry for them. And you really want to see (at least one of them) again in a story of their very own. The male vet (Kat's partner) is absolutely scrumptious and I wanted to read more about him. For the most part, I disliked the heroine. She kept making the same dumb mistakes and allowing suspicion/paranoia to rule her. By the time she ran out on the hero for the third time, I was ready to throttle her. To her credit, she does grow and learn and overcomes her cut and run bad behaviors. Matt is delicious and drool-worthy. Absolutely a "want to see this man on a platter" hero. I felt for him and with him as he deals with his screwy druid family, personal issues, and the flighty heroine. Sex scenes are HOT. No complaints here. Let's see...writing style is smooth and engaging. Pacing is good. Editing: solid. I purchased the book and the author did not request a review. If a sniper kills me sometime in the next year, you guys know who the primary suspect should be. Two Snarks Up. Snark on!
Protecting His Witch by Zoe Forward is the 1st book in her new, Keeper of the Veil series. This is an exciting paranormal storyline of a young girl, who has for years been able to switch dimensions. Kat Ramsey is our heroine, and she has no idea why she has this ability, which she really doesn’t know how to handle. Only her friend knows of her ability. But it is in the other dimension where she meets Matt Ryan, while they were both in college. They end up having hot steamy sex, only to have it ruined by Matt’s girlfriend showing up. An embarrassed Kat, immediately jumps back into her dimension, cursing Matt along the way. Years later, Kat is now a Veterinarian, and it’s been awhile since she jumped to the otherworld. She wakes up and feels the switch coming, and before she can prepare she finds herself at a benefit, with Matt the guest of honor. Matt has never gotten over Kat, and has searched for years to find her. When Kat accidently smacks into Matt, she knows she still has the hots for him, as well as he does for her. But she has never forgiven him. Despite this, Kat finds herself being stalked by others, and Matt is the one who comes to her rescue. During one of these rescues, Kat senses that Matt has his own magic powers, as he heals her injuries. After a few attacks, she begins to find out about her own history, the mother she hardly knew, her magic and what she truly is. Matt is a Druid, and though he wants nothing to do with his ability, he knows he has to protect her. We learn that Kat is one of 7 Pleiades witches, female descendants from goddesses, who must meet once every 7 years to ensure that the veil remains closed, and not allowing evil to escape. This was a fun adventure, as we met the other Druids and Pleiades. But it is the hot romance between Matt and Kat, who cannot resist each other, despite their original distrust. The chemistry between them was sizzling, and we knew that they were destined to be together. Would they be able to resolve their issues? Will Kat accept her destiny, and learn her own abilities? I really enjoyed this story, and both Matt and Kat were a wonderful couple. Protecting His Witch was very well written and exciting. I look forward to read the next book in this series by Zoe Forward.
Forward's paranormal romance "Protecting His Witch" is centered around an interesting premise: a secret society of Druids must protect the seven Pleiades witches whose powers are necessary to maintain the boundary between the realms. Unfortunately, the execution leaves something to be desired: this feels like the middle novel of a series, not the first novel (lots of references to previous events); the narrative structure is awkward (the story starts in the wrong place, and important information is revealed in the wrong order); and the characters act irrationally several times, causing unnecessary strife and miscommunication (the tired manipulative girlfriend trope, really?). So, while Kat and Matt are interesting characters, the story left me so frustrated that I almost quit reading, several times. It's unlikely that I will continue with the series. -- lyradora
Kat Ramsey has the habit of hopping from one dimension to another. Unfortunately she doesn't have control of her gift. It's so hard to have a normal life when you might disappear at any time. Add to the fact that she can read minds and you have the potential for problems. Matthew Ryan has a passionate encounter with Kat during one of her hops. When the morning after is a disaster, she places a curse on him and runs away. What happens when they meet after ten years? The characters are so well written and their interaction is so compelling that I was immediately drawn into their story. When they are together, the passion is intense. This book is a roller coaster ride filled with romance as well as suspense. The secondary characters are just as fascinating and mysterious. I'm hoping that we'll learn more about the other Pleiades witches and their mates as well as the Druids. I was charmed by Eli, Matt's twin brother. Protecting His Witch is the first book in a new series, Keepers of the Veil. Zoe Forward did a wonderful job with this paranormal novel. I enjoyed Kat and Matt's story and I'm anxious for the next book.
This book was a very intriguing read. it was fun to see Kat figure out what was going on with her life. The relationship between Matt and Kat was combustible and sweet. They would be arguing one minute and all over each other the next. But both were fiercely protective of the other. It was almost comical watching their back and forth dance. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well and hope to see more of them in the future. This story seemed to have put down a little background for Serenity and maybe even Eli's story. I would love to have both their stories too. Eli is so mysterious and Serenity so kick butt. Theirs would be good either together or singularly. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.
This book is a great read. Kat and Matt story is the best things in life are the ones you least expect.
Protecting His Witch (a Keepers of the Veil novel) Zoe Forward Review from jeannie zelos book reviews Genre: Paranormal Romance I was expecting a kind of paranormal M&B fluffy read with this – but its actually got a lot more depth than I expected. Its an interesting idea, this one of parallel worlds, and Kat is able to jump form one to the other. She doesn’t know why though, or why she seems to have some other odd quirks such as hearing people’s thoughts. It may be a family thing – but she knows nothing of her parents, and its not the kind of question you can ask without sounding nuts. So she keeps her head down, her fingers crossed and gets on with life. I really liked Kat, she’s not a weeping, simpering miss, but a get on with it girl who makes the best of a situation. She a bit out of her depth now though, when her “jumps” seem to have stepped up from none for several years to several within days. Not only that there seems to be some weird people out to get her, and she doesn’t know why or what they want. Throw in too that she keeps jumping to the one man she’d like to avoid, the one she had a really embarrassing but searingly hot one night stand with. He believes she cursed him, but she doesn’t know how to do a curse. He knows more about her world than he’s telling, trying to find out if she genuinely doesn’t know what he’s talking about – and they’re both hampered by an insane attraction that seems to leave them both with a desperate and raging desire to get naked together...anywhere, anytime it seems! Matt, he’s his own reasons for staying out of the supernatural world, but it just won’t leave him alone. He’s been targeted by the group after Kat before, and knows just how evil they can be, they’re responsible for his fathers death. Now there’s a deadline coming close for Kat to attend an important ceremony in the Otherworld, one she knows nothing about, and there are two groups wanting her. One to save the world by having her at the ceremony, the other who just want to capture her and experiment on her, dead or not... The heat between her and Matt was tangible and believable, and the way he’d no intention of bonding with anyone, and kept talking himself out of the attraction for Kat, making excuses for his feelings, and then going nuts when another Druid tries to claim her was amusing. The story itself was realistic – within the paradigms of fantasy of course – and the two lead characters were good. I liked meeting the secondary ones too, Kat’s friend, the loud and proud gay dancer, and Matt’s brother and the other druids. Its a small group of people here, but they fit well together and made for an entertaining read. Stars: Four and a half, a great read to escape into for a few hours ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers
out of this world full of alpha greatness of druid male with the female who is intelligent and ready to right wrongs= fantastic combo ****A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for an honest review**** OMG!! This is such a great story! The story grabs you from the moment it starts and doesn’t let you go. Matt Ryan and Kat Ramsey have history together. History that goes back 10 years; Kat can jump thru time but she doesn’t understand how she can do that. 10 years ago she went to a college party and lost her virginity to Matt. Kat Ramsey may have cursed Matthew Ryan in college after a one-night stand ended less than well but when they meet up again 10 years later, the chemistry is EVEN MORE off the charts. Matt has 10 yrs of hate built up toward Kat. He hasn’t been able to have a normal sexual relationship because he thinks Kat deliberately cursed him-Matt is a former druid and Kat, well, she doesn’t even know what she is. But there is an even bigger picture here--Matt and Kat live in different dimensions but Zoe Forward does an excellent job in making the leap between worlds seamless and with no confusion. Now that he has found her again, he wants to keep her by his side, especially when he realizes she is in extreme danger and doesn't even know what's happening. Matt, deep down, knows Kat isn’t bad and that she is *IT* for him. Combined with Kat and Matt, there are a lot of other characters in this book with teasers of future couples. This is apparently the first book of a new series and folks, we have a *WINNER* This is such a good book. HIGHLY recommend!! My rating : 5 stars ****
Protecting His Witch was a really good read, and the story kept me reading as quickly as I could to find out what happens next. I loved how Kat kept popping in and out of Matt's life, it made for some interesting situations! The curse that Kat unknowingly gives Matt in the beginning had me smiling right from the get go. I also loved that it's a new spin on witches, with Kat being one of the seven Pleiades witches that the druids must protect. Poor Matt didn't want to be a druid, he'd given up on that life and his attraction to Kat just keeps pulling him back in and getting him more deeply involved. There weren't any slow parts, it was fast paced and engaging, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Kat is a Veterinarian who just happens to time hop on occasion. She can't control when it is going to happen it just does. In college she time hopped to another dimension and just happened to give her virginity to a guy she met at a party. Who happened to have a girlfriend that walked in on them the next day. Kat leaves but first places a curse on Matthew that he will never find satisfaction with another woman. Fast forward several years later and Kat is shifted back into Matthews dimension but little does she know there are several after her as she is the seventh Pleiades witch. She has no clue she is a witch or what exactly she can do. She can read some minds but other than that is at a complete loss. Matthew is elected against his control to watch out for her. Loved this book. I loved how Kat would just zip out of the dimension when the moment was wrong or it made Matthew irritated. Great read. I was provided a copy of this book for my honest review.
Kat Ramsey is a vet who has a few paranormal traits - like she can read minds and sometimes hops to a different dimension - but is trying get on with her life despite these. One time she accidentally hops to an alternative dimension where she meets Matthew Ryan - and the chemistry between them is phenomenal. Unfortunately, the next morning his girlfriend turns up and he, the slime ball, sends Kat away without a thank you or her clothes, just wrapped in a sheet! As she leaves, Matt is convinced she’s cursed him to never find satisfaction with another woman . . . . Ten years later, Kat dimension hops again and I’m sure you’ve guessed who she meets, again their sexual chemistry is volatile to put it mildly! Trying not to give anything away, now the adventures really start as druids, sentries, the Pleiades seven sister witches and their antagonists all interact in dramatic fashion whilst Matt and Kat struggle to understand their relationship and protect each other. The story is well written with some humorous episodes as well as heartbreaking ones, the characters are well rounded and it is easy to empathise with many of them. I have no hesitation in recommending this story and I’ll certainly be looking out for future stories in this series - I hope there will be books with at least one about Eli, Matt’s twin brother and another about Serenity, one of the Pleiades witches. Thanks to Entangled for letting me read this story in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 - "I'm not like Wolverine, but I can heal fast." Stars. Matt Ryan and Kat Ramsey have history, 10 years of it in fact, it is just of the unconventional kind. Although neither of them is really aware of exactly how deep and how far that history actually goes at the beginning of the book, it is a roller-coaster ride of discovery, the further into the story you get. The past, the present and the future all depend on them getting together at the right time, and resolving their differences before the wrong people get involved. With the sexual tension and the chemistry between these too pretty much oozing from my Kindle. I will most certainly be looking too read more books by Zoe Forward. Luckily this is the beginning of a new series from this author and I am looking forward too seeing where the rest of the Keepers of the Veil books take us. His was the gaze of a high-end predator, throwing it's prey a seductive look, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Another great part of this book is the banter between Matt and Kat, it is funny and snarky, and Matt has got a deliciously dirty mouth when the mood takes him. But you also get the addition of some great interaction with secondary characters as well, Matt's brother Eli and a witch called Serenity, deserve notable mention as their comments had me giggling several times as the book progressed. Protecting his Witch was just a really easy to read, enjoyable book. "That's the Wildcat I remember." Can't wait for more! ARC generously provided via Netgalley, and it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review.
"May you never find satisfaction with another woman." "Did you just curse me?" So, what should you do if you're an extremely hot ex-Druid, cursed by a sweet and sexy dimension-hopping witch? Remove clothes. That's exactly what makes Protecting his Witch a sizzling paranormal romance with great characters and a captivating storyline. Kat Ramsey may have cursed Matthew Ryan in college after a one-night stand ended less than well, but when their paths cross again 10 years down the line, their chemistry burns in every sense of the word. "...I'm hanging onto my sanity by a thread. I'll have you up against this tree and be inside you in about one second." The bigger picture...we're transported into a world based around the Pleiades - otherwise known as the seven sisters. Matt and Kat may live in different dimensions but Zoe Forward does an excellent job in making the leap between worlds seamless and with no confusion. Heartfelt content in balanced with lighter humorous moments and secondary characters bring depth and valuable content to the story. All in all, a great paranormal romantic read and a very promising start to what I sincerely hope is a series. Reviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews.
