This was my first read from Alexandra Ivy and she didn't fail me. Laura Wright is one of my favs so I had no worries there. This was face paced (since they are novellas) and I like that about books. It's fiction and paranormal, things are suppose to happen quickly, it's the magic of it all. The shifters are hot and the women are strong. Can't wait to read the next one. I was so involved that when I realized it was the end I was like WHAT?! nooooo! LOL

The Pantera shapeshifters exist only in legend, a story told to humans about a place that is not a place within the deep bayous of Louisiana. The brilliant and dangerous diplomat of the Pantera shapeshifters, Raphael has devoted his life to discovering the key to the infertility that is threatening the extinction of his puma race. Creating a vast network of spies worldwide, he never expected to discover that the answer might be beneath his very nose. But when Ashe, a beautiful human female, crosses his path, his most primitive instincts are stirred. Unable to resist, he takes her to his bed, and is shocked when she becomes pregnant with his child. It’s a miracle that might prove to be the salvation of his people, but only if he can keep her safe from the mercenaries determined to kill her. But they exist and Raphael, a dedicated diplomat of his people, is seeking the reason his people are failing to continue. The Puma have not bred successfully in years and he's been seeking the answer. A human female, Ashe, crosses his path and every mating instinct Rafael has suddenly lights up like a fire. He takes her to his bed and she conceives, and he finds he has to face not only the human mercenaries hunting her but his own people who are not accustomed to having humans know about them. Parish is totally against Rafael's choice, humans killed a member of his family and, as a hunter, he is not given to changing his mind, or heart about anything. But with Rafael's obvious choice of mate, he is sent into New Orleans to try to convince a human doctor to come back to the Wildlands with him. He never counted on falling in love and bonding with the female, Dr. Julia Cabot, whose broken heart at the hands of a callous, uncaring mate has cast her into the void in life. Can he convince her to come back with him, to help Ashe, and also stay with him? I didn't know quite what to expect with this book. Two parts, two stories written by two different writers seemed a challenge. Could Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright manage the two, untamed Puma males they had chosen to write about and make the story consistent enough to satisfy? Oh yeah. This did. The first two stories of the Bayou Heat series made quite the impression on me. Filled with a good story and some of the most smoking-hot sex ever to grace book pages. The males are hot, strong, and wild, the women very willing and smart. I cannot wait for the second book, with the furthering of Ashe/Julia's story and two more hot Pantera males, Bayron and Jean-Baptiste, due out in April, 2013. It's worth tracking down and reading. Just have a nice glass of ice tea to cool off with in the heat of this Bayou!

Felt unfinished, like their should be more to the story.  I enjoyed what their was, just wasn't wrapped up left to many loose threads.

A great new series by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright! This is the first two stories, one written by each author. Raphael is a diplomat that has been trying to help his people find out why they haven't been able to have children for 50 years, in walks Ashe to the Pantera bar. Now the Pantera world is in an uproar because Ashe, a human is expecting Raphael's child. Parish is the protector of his people, after the loss of his sister he has kept to himself and preferred his panther. In true alpha male fashion, Parish abducts Dr. Julia Cabot to assist with the miracle that is Raphael and Ashe's child. Both are awesome stories of finding your other half. My only complaint is that they were WAY too short! Can't wait for the next release!

This is the first time I have read either of these authors and I must say they are GREAT writers! I Didnt want the story to end! Uber alpha males with an HEA! It just doesnt get better than that!

Book 1 had a slight cliffhanger but I could live with it as it still had a sort of ending. Book 2 is a full on cliffhanger and had I realized how it was compared to the first one, I would not have read it as I do not read cliffhangers. I view incomplete novels as extortion--endings held hostage, as it were, until you pony up for the next one in the hopes it finally has an ending. I love a good series: a set of books with complete stories and an over-arcing plot to tie them all together. I hate serials: a series of books (usually short story/novella length) that, while have a shared plot are basically one story spread out over several installments. I do not read them so I will never know what happens to Ashe and really, as I did not like her character, I do not care. Interesting stories, short on plot development but then they are short stories and I guess other installments will fill in details. Sexy alpha cat shifters, one interesting female lead and one wishy washy one. One sort-of cliffhanger and one doosy of a hanger. If you do not mind being extorted you might enjoy the series.

Raphael~ In a world hidden from view The Pantera exist within shadows apart from the rest of the world. Raphael is a diplomat for his people learning about the world outside of The Wildlands. Raphael is a loner for the most part yet he spent time with a woman that he can't get out of his mind. Ashe Pascal can't believe her mother is kicking her out because she's pregnant even though Ashe paid her bar tab. Ashe having no where to go ends up in a hotel to figure out her next moves. Yet when strange men make a move to hurt Ashe, Raphael steps in to rescue her. Will Ashe believe Raphael? Your answers await you in Raphael. Parish~ Parish is a hunter among The Pantera. He's asked by his friend Raphael to find and bring a female doctor for his mate Ashe. Parish is used to taking instead of asking for what he needs. It's also legendary in his hatred of humans since his twin sister's death. Dr. Julia Cabot has just come out of messy relationship with a fellow doctor. Julia has her pride and won't let it stand in her way of getting out from under the thumb of her ex. Julia is surprised by Parish and his actions yet can't fault him for them either. Julia and Parish are in a race to see who makes it to The Wildlands first. Parish doesn't understand his attraction to Julia only that she's his period. Will Julia understand this new world? Can Parish let go of the past? Your answers await you in Parish. This powerhouse novel hits the ground running and doesn't stop for anything. I've not read anything by either Ms. Ivy or Ms. Wright before. I was pleasantly surprised to discover I really enjoyed their writing styles alot as well as their characters and stories. Definitely looking forward to more adventures in this series.

Raphael  3.5* Alexandra Ivy I enjoyed this story of Rafael and Ashe. It was a good beginning to this paranormal romance series about a bewitched part of the Bayou that created a legendary group of shifters.  Parish 4* Laura Wright Parish and Julia were great characters and my only wish was that we could of had more time with them before the end. Which by the way was a really mean way to end this book. What a cliffhanger! Now I have to start the next book right away.  I really needed to read something different. I'm on a schedule.  I highly recommend this book for any paranormal romance lover.

Story line was OK, needed fleshing out. Two short stories that had the potential to be much better. I love Alexandra Ivy, but was disappointed in this effort.
