Marsha was raised in the small suburban town of Rockland, Massachusetts. As a child of divorce, Marsha and her four siblings were raised by her mother who had Multiple Sclerosis. By the age of 12, she was doing the grocery shopping, the laundry, and many other household chores, forcing her to grow up before her time. At the age of 16, her mother in a nursing home, she was put in foster care where she met the father of her son. Her mother died when Marsha was 19, never knowing that Marsha, at age 18, had given birth to her son Derrick. Derrick was born the same year she graduated from high school. Marsha faced a number of obstacles as she grew to become a woman. Forced to live briefly in her car, being evicted from her apartment, being separated from her son as well obtaining her college degrees while working full time. Despite these trials, at the age of 22 Marsha began an extremely successful 25 year career at a multi-billion dollar telecommunications corporation. She was promoted many times for her leadership, reputation, and excellent interpersonal skills. She became well known as a superior leader with a unique ability to guide and motivate employees. Her natural coaching abilities were evident in the many employees she inspired to reach their goals by getting them promoted and encouraging them to get their education. Despite the challenges of being a busy career woman and pursuing her education at night, Marsha was intently focused on raising her son to be an exceptional young man. Derrick graduated high school as a high achiever and received several awards based on his character and athletic ability. After high school, Derrick was awarded a football scholarship by Boston College, where he held the all time leading rushing record from 2003 thru 2011. Marsha left Verizon Telecommunications, Inc. in 2011, to pursue her life purpose as a life coach. knight's coaching experience is the natural culmination of the totality of Marsha’s life experiences. She currently inspires her clients based on her past experiences and successes as a business woman and single parent.

Wow, what a story.  This was a brave, honest accounting of a life's struggle and how to overcome even the most difficult and disheartening circumstances.  I would call it inspiring.  I  was uplifted.  Everyone should read this story, teenagers to adults.  To understand how one person can live through, overcome and succeed, despite circumstances that would otherwise break someone else is amazing.  Marsha is a strong, powerful and positive woman.  A real role model for women of all ages.  Great for teenage girls who need inspiration to get through difficult times.  I highly recommend this book.  You will feel differently about life.

This book was absolutely sensational because it is so real and honest- I could not put it down!! Unlike another reviewer, I found this book extremely emotional and heartwarming. I have been inspired by what Marsha has done and overcome. Not only to be able to acknowledge her past, but to triumph is something you need to cherish in people. I highly recommend this book for any woman, mother, friend or sister. It is a feel good book that I will definitely be reading again and have recommended to many of my close friends! A must buy!

Unfortunately, while her story is inspiring the telling of it was "Just the facts". She did not engage us in her life, she just stated the facts of what happened to her almost as if she was telling someone else's life history. When I finished the book, I felt nothing. I should have felt elated that she overcame so much to get where she is today, but it was like okay this is the end, finally.
