In my family we were encouraged to play sports, sing in choirs and join any club or organization we wanted. I was allowed to play basketball and softball. I took piano and mandolin lessons and even a drawing class at the local art center. I wasn’t told no when I did things like drag my sisters to the all-but-abandoned “Fire Station Park” for our own version of ‘park beautification’. I wasn’t even discouraged when I wanted to campaign for Gerald Ford for President and join the JJ Walker Fan Club (Dy-no-mite!)
ALL, I might add, while still in elementary school! So, why then, was it so difficult for me to dream? Why didn't I have that all encompassing desire to acheive that ONE thing?? I didn't know. But I would find out...
