He’s not giving up his family without a fight

James Calhoun has never been able to resist Mara Tyler, or her knack for mischief. Her reputation as a reckless teenager drove Mara from their hometown. So Slippery Rock is the last place James ever expected to see her, and Mara’s timing couldn’t be worse. With the upcoming election for sheriff, she threatens the squeaky-clean image James needs to win. Because Mara has brought with her the result of their steamy affair: his two-year-old son, Zeke. After the initial shock, James is determined to have both his family and career. He just needs to convince Mara that her home is where it’s always been. With him.

Star-crossed lovers, town secrets and a surprise baby … just a few of the things that make this such a fun read! A visit to Slippery Rock is always satisfying! Known for the mischief she used to cause as a teenager, Mara Tyler wasn’t sure she would ever return home to Slippery Rock, Missouri, but times have changed and it’s time. It’s time to make face the town, her family and James Calhoun. She has a baby that it’s past time she told people about … especially his father! James always did have a hard time resisting his childhood friend, turned lover … and even though her return is at an inopportune time for him, there’s no way he’s going to let the Sheriff’s election and what the town thinks of him get in the way of him getting to know the son he didn’t know he had! Mara admits to her mistakes, and James admits to a few of his own, and as they spend time together again, they both have to admit they still adore each other. Will the townfolk run her back out of town, or will the love of a man and the support of her family be just what she needs to put down roots there?
