“You can eat all the broccoli in the land, but if the rest of your life is out of balance, how healthy and well are you?” –MICHELLE DEWOLF
This is not a diet book, nor is it about focusing on becoming less of you. I wrote this book because I want more of you, more of the authentic you in the world right now. You are exactly what the world needs, and when we get more of you, the whole world benefits in ways you can’t possibly imagine. The ripple effect of a more authentic you changes not only how you feel and see yourself, but how others see you and how they respond to you in each interaction. We don’t have time for less; we only have time for more YOU.
So many of us already know what to do. It’s the doing it that is the hard part. This book and I are here to help you execute your best-laid plan. You will want to use your “gut” to guide you through this book. After browsing through the book’s subjects, think about which one lights you up. Which topic did you read and think, yes, that is the one I need? If there are several that call your name, which one would you choose as a place to start?
One step at a time, we can get there. We can regain control and find joy in food and taking care of ourselves and those around us. This book is a DIY guide to getting your act together. I want you to indulge in the option of choosing where you start. The book’s sections are laid out in the same order that I often use with my coaching clients. You, however, are your own spectacular self and get to choose the section that lights you up and excites you—and start there. That’s the first step.
Use the goals worksheets. We can’t get there if we don’t know where we are headed. Think of how often we do a little reality check and rely on Google Maps or Waze even when we know where we are going. Is there a quicker way? Am I clear of roadblocks or construction? Should I head in this direction or that one? We need the same reality check once in a while. Checking out your own goals and getting to the heart of why you are headed in a particular direction helps you stay on track. Spend some time setting goals for yourself that are measurable and realistic—for the next month, the next three months and the next six months. There is a goal worksheet at the end of each chapter to guide you as you set goals in each area you want to tackle.
After you commit to your goals, you will create your own homework in two-week increments with the worksheets that follow. Michelle will guide you with suggestions, ideas, and stories to inspire with humor and some tough love to keep you going.
In the work I do as a coach, I see so many people make a breakthrough in ways they never expected. It doesn’t entirely surprise me; it always has to do with a mindset shift concerning how they see themselves and the food they eat, their health and their well-being as part of a much bigger picture. The Festive Table brand of health and well-being guides you to remove stress and worry and helps make food more enjoyable and your table more festive.
