About the Author

Dadao Lu is the Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an outstanding economic geographer. He proposed the theory of "pole-axis" system and a "T-shaped" spatial strategy for regional development. He also established the theoretical framework for China’s industrial geography. His theory which considers the Yangtze River corridor and coastal region as the axies of national economic development, has had great influence on national and regional economic and social development. He used to be the director of the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resource Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as the chairman of the Geographical Society of China.
