The present book is an outcome of a training programme on Mathematical Modelling in GIS/GPS and Digital Cartography, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi from 1st February to 2nd March, 2005. DR. DINESH N. AWASTHI, an Economist, is associated with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad as a Faculty Member. Prior to joining the Institute, he was associated with the Sardar Patel Institute of Economic and Social Research, Ahmedabad. The other areas of his interest are Development Economics and Rural Entrepreneurship. He has also worked as a consultant to International Labour Office, Geneva.
