Resurrecting Seth
Sammy, a young Salvadoran, naturalized a citizen during his tour in Iraq, returns home only to learn of the suicide of his fellow Marine and best friend, Seth.
While Sammy is trying to piece together the remnants of his friend's life, he learns that his cousin, Claudia, is pregnant with Seth's child.
Claudia, who had recently completed her nursing certification, moves back to Atlanta with her parents, where she raises her newborn son. Their worlds collide, when Claudia hears from her long removed brother, who was himself deported, after committing a violent felony. Sammy decides to travel to Atlanta to visit Seth's unmentioned family, and piece together any clues about his friend's suicide. Sammy, encounters Gary, Seth's estranged father, who is distrustful of most immigrants but has no idea that an undocumented immigrant is soon to be the mother of his only grandchild.

Claudia finds herself now facing deportation and even worse, separation from her newborn, who is now a citizen by birth. Based upon an actual event that took place in Chicago (and became a national headline), Claudia finds refuge in a local church, run by a willful priest.
