Rookie Shoes and Other Stories

The stories “What a Memory” and “Calming Ethan” are from Lavaughn Simmons in addition to the story “Shoe Biz” are all from her collection, ROOKIE SHOES AND OTHER STORIES. These three short stories range in messages such as providing hope to victims who have fallen prey to scams, sympathy for mourners whose suffered the loss of relationships and loved ones, and the final story is about the nature of karma regarding the choices made and the consequences that follow.

Although each of Lavaughn’s stories in this first collection are unique in delivery, the messages provided in each are clear, distinguishing, and relative to most. In her first story from the collection, “What a Memory” is a Sci-Fi Fantasy that explores the life of an elderly dementia man’s fight for a phone number to a tv ad from his controlling daughter before he and his wife suffer permanent memory loss.

Lavaughn’s second story “Calming Ethan” while a little more on the risqué side, this Psychological Erotic-Drama details the dark obsessions of a single man struggling to cope with life after the recent loss of his father and the aching break-up from his longtime girlfriend. In her final story of the collection “Shoe Biz” is a Drama about a gullible Florida Law student who must win back his rookie collectible brand-name tennis-shoes after he gets pressured into selling them to his younger wittier high-school brother days before the shoes skyrocket in value.

With each of Lavaughn’s stories shedding light on sensitive subjects such as health, relationships, and loss, you will be amazed with the messages in her next collection coming soon. Enjoy.
