About the Author

Heather Maurice-Stirnweis:

For more than twenty years, Heather’s life has been steeped in art and teaching. She has worked as the Art Director for a hands-on children’s museum and as the Fine Arts teacher at Stirnweis Studio. Heather earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a major in Art History and a Master of Science in Art Education from Southern Connecticut State University.

As a child, Heather loved picture books and spent countless hours reading and drawing from them. She still remembers looking through jungle books during an East Coast snowstorm and how reading brought her to a different, warmer, land for that long afternoon.

Heather lives in a small town in New Hampshire close to where she grew up. During the summers, her family spends time in Maine enjoying the wildlife and the seacoast. Her adult travels have opened her heart to become a Reiki Master.

Look for Heather’s upcoming books, “In the Deep, Dark Woods”, “Jack Van Hosen was Chosen”, “The Gobble Up Ice Cream Shop”, “The Halloween Jig” and “Mushy Toe” due to be released by Kaleidoscope Books in 2012.

Katherine Mariaca-Sullivan:

Katherine is both an artist and an author. She has spent most of her life living in tropical places where the colors are vivid and the stories layered. Recently, she moved to the Northeast to marry her college sweetheart (after a 20+ year hiatus). Like Heather on that long-ago winter day, Katherine uses stories and art to keep her warm.

Katherine earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Tufts University and a Master of Fine Art in Creative Writing from Lesley University. She is the author of When a Loved One Dies: The Complete Guide to Preparing a Dignified & Meaningful Goodbye" and "Write, Publish & Market Your eBook." She is the Founder, Editor and Publisher of Kaleidoscope Books. She can be reached at: or at http://TheEssentialeBooker.com
