About the Author

Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) was an English Romantic writer, philosopher, and poet. Coleridge was a founder of the English Romantic movement and a member of the Lake Poets. Born in Devon, Coleridge had a sickly childhood and suffered from bouts of anxiety and depression as an adult. He is best known for his long poems like KUBLA KHAN and RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER, but also wrote a number of influential prose pieces like BIOGRAPHICA LITERARIA.
