Oh my goodness I just has the pleasure of reading the sweetest holiday romance story! SANTA TO THE RESCUE by Adele Downs is one of my favorite holiday stories so far this year.  Jamey Tucker is a new rookie  firefighter with Appleton Fire Station. He runs to the store to pick up breakfast supplies for the crew and meets cute, sweet nurse Heather Longhurst. They make an instant connection and plans to meet again. However Jamey is able to proceed with plans and Heather thinks he may be like the other men from her past. Jamey comes through in a big way though, I don't want to tell you to much to spoil the story but I was still in a nice little aww moment for a while after reading this wonderfully sweet romantic story.  If you are looking for a sweet holiday romance, I think you should give SANTA TO THE RESCUE a try. I don't think you will be disappointed at all. I know I certainly was not. I have not had the pleasure of reading any of Adele Downs' work until now and I found her writing style to be very enjoyable and easy to read. I know I most certainly will look for more of her work in the future.  I was given the opportunity to read this book to share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts about this wonderful book with you.

Santa to the Rescue by Adele Downs.  As a new firefighter to Appleton Fire station, he knows he's in for a little bit of hazing.  Kitchen duty has a new meaning when he is shopping for his breakfast when he catches Heather sashaying and singing to her favorite Christmas tune. He's mesmerized and taken back this lovely nurse.  He'll stop at nothing to make her his and win her trust. Jamey has a few tricks up his sleeve and knows how to use them.  This Novella from Adele Downs is a sweet and delightful read.  You'll want more and I am sure she will  deliver.  I look forward to reading more from this author. I received "Santa to the Rescue" for a honest review.

Well this novella, Santa to the Rescue, officially helped get me into the Christmas spirit. Jamey is a new firefighter in town and being stuck with kitchen duty could never have been better for him. While shopping for breakfast he becomes fascinated with the swaying booty of Heather Longhurst. It doesn't take long for the two to get to know each other despite Heather's reluctance and uncertainty due to past relationships. Take one visit from a sexy Santa, and throw in some words from her favorite Christmas song, and you have a relationship in the making. Even though the story was really short, only around 36 pages for the actual story, Downs does a great job giving you a feel for the characters. You get a glimpse at the onset of a new relationship during most people's favorite time of year. What is best is the hero and heroine are really likeable characters. I highly recommend for a quick, pick-me-up Christmas read.

Santa to the Rescue by Adele Downs is a heartwarming holiday novella. Heather Longhurst is an RN who works in a children’s hospital. Due to her past relationships, she finds it difficult to trust other men. Jamey Tucker is a firefighter who has recently relocated to a new town and firehouse. Jamey witnesses Heather signing a carol in the aisle of the supermarket and immediately falls for her. I love the magic in these holiday stories. This is a short holiday novella that tied this story up nicely. I loved Ms. Downs’ writing and look forward to reading more of her work. I would recommend Santa to the Rescue as it is a quick read. I’d like to disclose that I received a copy of Santa to the Rescue in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Review by Annie, author of contemporary romance. X-posted by Melissa Snark. Santa to the Rescue is a heartwarming romantic holiday novella that has just the right amount of attraction between the hero and heroine to pull off their instant attraction. The well-defined characterization of Jamey Tucker, a rookie firefighter who plays Santa, and Heather Longhurst, a RN with trust issues who dress up as an elf for her ‘kids’, leaves you rooting for them to the very end. Ms. Downs’ writing is smooth, seamless, and engaging. It has all the flavor and spice of a holiday romance as well as wrapping the goodwill and Christmas Spirit of the season around the challenges faced by firefighters and nurses everywhere. Turning disappointments into good deeds with a positive outcome, Santa to the Rescue is one of those magical Christmas stories that bring a smile to your face, and a warmth to your heart. It will leave you with smile on your face all day.

This cute story is a perfect way to start off the holiday season! I was excited to see that this story was told through two points of view. When you are reading a novella, it is a HUGE plus if an author can get you to connect to their characters quickly. The switching points of view definitely helped in this case. I really liked reading from Jamey’s point of view. He was such a genuinely good guy and that was really refreshing to see. He also showed some growth from the start of the story to the end which I totally didn’t expect in this shorter read. At first he is a bit lonely, not all that interested in the holidays but that all changes after he meets Heather. Heather is an equally genuine, sweet character. Where Jamey is a bit hesitant to celebrate the holidays, Heather is all about it. Making the children’s ward where she works as a nurse extra special during the holiday season is one of her favorite things to do. I liked the connection between these two; it was easy, simple, and fun. Some of the wording was a bit awkward in this story (Solar Plexus was used quite a bit. It was just…weird), and some of the things said made this book a bit cheesier than it needed to be but otherwise I really enjoyed it. If you need a quick boost to get you into the holiday mood, this just might be the one for you!

Ok I just finished a really quick novella by Adele Downs. The story is called Santa to the Rescue. I don't know what I was expecting when I started this story, but I'm at a toss up. I thought the story was just okay. You have Jamey Tucker and Heather Longhurst kind of bump into each other at the grocery story. They both like each other. Honestly, there wasn't much to the story other than they like each and eventually end up together. No real conflict other than Jamey's work schedule, and everything magically works out in the end. Granted it is a novella, but it just I think I would have like a little more to story. I can only say that it was an okay clean read to me. If you don't mind a story that has no conflict and everything works out, you might like Santa to the Rescue for a quick read. Copy provided by publisher

This contemporary romance is a delicious quick read that combines a hot fireman, new to town and learning to be part of the team, and the cute nurse who captures his eye with her good looks and his heart with her sweet nature. I love the way the goodwill of the season is conjured up even as we get a glimpse of the lifestyle and challenges faced by our brave firefighters and the reminder that even small acts can have a positive benefit on those around us. A sweet story that hopefully will be an appetizer for an even longer tale involving these characters and a great way to get into the holiday spirit. A copy of this fun story was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Down's Santa to the Rescue is a beautifully written, heartwarming tale of love during the holidays. This story surrounds itself with Firefighter Jamey Tucker and the woman he meets, pediatric nurse Heather Longhurst in the grocery store. Jamey always knew how women should be treated and he never vowed to hurt someone. When he meets Heather, he makes a promise that later he finds out is on a late shift at the firehouse. Heather's been hurt by other men before and so when she meets Jamey, she thinks its all over, but when he calls to cancel, her world changes. Jamey is determined to make it up to her and he will, but I don't want to give it away. Lets just say Santa always gives miracles! Those who love romance added with the magic of the holidays will enjoy this read!

Jamey just had to meet the nurse he seen dancing and singing to "Santa Baby" in the grocery store. He helped her out at the store and she told him if he came to the pediatric department Christmas party, she'd give him a plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies. Because he's a new recruit, he gets all the crappy shifts at the fire department, which means he has to cancel on her. Heather's been hurt in the past and she takes his cancellation as a sign that he's not trustworthy. Will Jamey be able to show Heather that she can trust him? Read this heartwarming Christmas short story about a fireman and the nurse that warms his heart. This is a very quick story that will spread a little Christmas cheer. I look forward to reading more from this author. I received a copy for an honest review.

Reviewed by Kim for Read Your Writes Book Reviews The story reads like Christian romance. There isn't any reference to God, but it just seems overly wholesome and has more than a sweet romance feel to it. Heather is jaded by the past men in her life who have done her wrong and wonders if there are honorable men in the world who want forever love. Jamey is a man who believes in happily ever afters because that's what's in his family and he desperately wants it for himself. The setup for this story is good. The two characters are attracted to each other and ultimately want the same thing out of life. Unfortunately, the story starts to fall apart when Heather has a mini flip out about Jamey telling her that he has to work and can't come to her work party. I kept hoping that somehow the story would turn around and end up being enjoyable after this point but Heather just wasn't likeable. Rating: 2.5 Source: Publisher
