Semper-Fi-Do-Or-Die
The author of Miami Rock scores again with Semper-Fi-Do-Or-Die, a hard-edged look back into Marine Corps history. The story takes us to Parris Island, the marine boot camp in South Carolina, where boys are so expeditiously turned into (men) Marines, and in only 90 short days. It is the fall of 1962 and the Cuban Missile Crisis rears its ugly head, the only time in world history when DEFCON 2, one step away from nuclear war and total annihilation of the earth. We meet a group of young marines all characters who could only match-up with the characters in the author's previous book, Miami Rock. We follow them through their very real horrors during their trials and tribulations at P.I. and then on to their duty stations and for many of them, on to Vietnam. For those that live through Vietnam it is no picnic back in the World and the author shows us vividly why we should all be highly concerned with returning veterans' post-traumatic stress disorders and their horrific effects on not only the veteran's themselves but society at large. In Semper-Fi-Do-Or-Die the author, an ex-marine himself, shows us what the Corps was really like during that tumultuous time in American history.
