About the Author

Kevin McPherson was born and raised in Texas by a family that was constantly on the move. The frequent moves made making and keeping friends difficult. Kevin dealt with periods of loneliness by creating stories and characters that he could believe in. In his early life these stories were kept to himself and after time mostly forgotten. As he grew the stories became poems that, from time-to-time, he would put to paper, but again, they would be kept to himself.

At the age of twenty Kevin married the love of his life, the loneliness subsided, and the creation of make-believe characters stopped. Aside from the occasional poem (poor attempts at expressing his love for his wife), he went years without any real inspiration to write or create. His focus was on his family and his career as a construction worker.

Then, while employed as a Construction Manager for a multi-family homebuilder in Austin, Texas, Kevin met another person with a gift for writing poetry. The two struck up a friendship and a “poetry writing challenge” ensued. The poems were based on real life situations and were judged by coworkers. The “challenge” only lasted through a handful of poems before the construction industry took a down turn, the company folded and the two went their separate ways.

That brief period of playful writing fueled a creative flame within Kevin that had been smoldering in the recesses of his mind. He began writing prolifically and though most of the poems were written and simply filed away, some were shared with family and friends who claimed to enjoy his work.

These days Kevin seldom writes poetry choosing to focus his energies on short stories and novels. However, he is still employed in the construction industry so opportunities to write are few. He writes when time allows and there are several compelling stories with believable characters yet to come.
