An awesome book that I could not put down. Just when Whitney thought life was perfect, no marriage or children when she receives a call that her niece, Emma has been injured and her sister died in a car accident. Whitney's world will turn upside down as she takes her of her niece. This is an emotional journey that Whitney and Emma will take together. What you won't do for a family member. This is mostly women fiction with a little romance. I highly recommend!!

Silent Night is a poignant story. We get to see tragic events unfold when a person is careless with their own and a loved one’s safety while operating a car. I thought Silent Night was well-written and engaging. I sat down and read this story straight through (I wen to bed late even for me). The book had steady pacing with smooth transitions between sections. There are good, relatable characters in the story. We see how life can change in a moment and families are messy. I found Silent Night to be an emotional and heartbreaking story. We get to experience the grief Whitney and Emma go through along with handling Emma’s injury. There is good information on traumatic brain injuries in the book. Danielle Steel related the details in an easy to understand way which I appreciated. Emma’s journey is difficult as she tries to relearn all that she has lost. It is nice to see the characters grow as individuals and see this one event change the course of their lives. I like that the author provided an epilogue that nicely wrapped up the book. Silent Night is a story that will touch your heart.

Danielle Steel takes on one of today’s most controversial topics, texting and driving, in her latest novel. Paige Watts, stage mother extraordinaire, runs her daughter Emma’s career with the precision of a military campaign. Only nine years old, Emma lives a life that is a continual flow from work on a hit show to Broadway auditions to dance lessons and on to acting lessons. All it takes is one incident of texting and driving while running behind schedule to forever change the life of Paige and Emma Watts. Emma goes from a talented young star to a bewildered, brain damaged child with no verbal skills and minimal memory. Her life is changed forever as a result. Her mother is dead and her life will never be the same. Whitney Watts, Paige’s sister, runs a thriving psychiatric practice in Los Angeles with no plans for marriage or children. As Emma’s only living relative, Whitney immediately steps in to care for Emma during what will be a long battle to come back from the isolated world she endures as a result of the accident. Resilient, determined, and unwavering in her care for Emma, Paige helps Emma learn that anything is possible if you don’t give up. A sad, but uplifting story! This ARC copy was received from Delacorte Press and The above thoughts and opinions are wholly my own.

I received a free copy of SILENT NIGHT by Danielle Steel in exchange for an honest review. Whitney Watts is busy living her single successful life and completely disassociating herself from her parents’ successful Hollywood legacy. Whitney’s sister, Paige, is another story. When Paige failed as an actress, she fully embraced becoming a stage mom for her daughter, Emma, and trying to make Emma a star. Whitney’s jet-setting lifestyle is completely changed when Paige is killed and Emma is severely injured in a car accident. This is the story Emma’s struggle following a traumatic brain injury and Whitney’s change to become the person Emma needs during her recovery. I liked this book. It had both intensity and sweetness. The romance was understated, which I liked, and completely secondary to the primary plotline. I recommend this novel to those who enjoy women’s fiction. #SilentNight #NetGalley

Silent Night by Danielle Steel is a standalone novel that is a bit different then her usual trademark romantic stories. Yes it has a little of romance, but it is the story of family, tragedy, love and life changing events. Silent Night was a wonderful and very emotional story. Paige and Whitney Watts are sisters, and very much different, as their mother was a famous actress. Paige loves the spotlight, and since she could not get her own career started, she lives through her daughter, Emma, who has become a popular young actress on a television show; she has become the ultimate stage mother. Whitney is the opposite, as she is a psychiatrist, who loves her work, and enjoys life with her wealthy boyfriend, but frowns on how Paige pushes Emma to the spotlight. One night everything changes when a tragic accident kills Paige, and severely injures Emma. Being the next of kin, Whitney is contacted while on vacation in Italy, and drops everything to rush home to be with her niece. What she finds at the hospital is that Emma has serious brain damage in the frontal lobe, and is in a semi coma. Whitney will change her life to take care of Emma, and help her recover from the serious damage she had to her brain. Emma at 9 years old, will come out of the coma, unable to remember, or talk (she talks gibberish) and has a hard time overall with understanding and mobility. This is very emotional story, as we watch Whitney and Emma struggle through life and the determination to rise above the terrible effects and pain surrounding them now. I really loved Whitney, as she loved her niece and was willing to change her life to become the caregiver for Emma. It was sad to watch Emma, unable to cope with her inability to talk, and the ensuing violence, when her anger took control. Whitney persevered and brought in specialists to work with Emma. There is a slow built romance between Whitney and Dr. Bailey (he was one of her doctors), as they spent a lot of time together during their struggle to help Emma. I really enjoyed Silent Night, which was an emotional and heartbreaking story line. Both Whitney and Emma were wonderful characters that had us emotionally pulled into their lives. I do not want to give spoilers, but I will say that Silent Night was a different type of read for me from Danielle Steel; but it was a great story.Once again Danielle Steele blows it out of the park. I wholly suggest you read Silent Night.

4 1/2 STARS! Gut-wrenching & raw! With her latest novel, Danielle Steel quickly takes us into the heart of a mother who pushes her young star to be all that she can be ... and more. When tragedy strikes and life as she knows it disappears, that young girl must learn to depend on the beloved aunt who is willing to move the ends of the earth to help her be able to truly live again. The story is fast paced and attention grabbing from page one. I might have liked to get a deeper connection to Paige and had a little more depth to the romance blooming, but overall, an outstanding story of courage and determination! Psychiatrist Whitney Watts has no idea as she's traveling towards a luxurious vacation with her wealthy lover that her life is about to change irrevocably. Born into Hollywood legacy, she's always preferred to live in her own low-key bubble instead of partaking in the limelight the rest of  her family always craved.  One phone call changes her fate. There's been a horrible accident. Her sister Paige is no longer able to be the world's biggest stage mom to her talented 9 year old niece Emma. And Emma's world has just been silenced. With no memory or ability to do everyday things, this child's suddenly living in a big scary world of dark abyss. With a mindset of love and determination, Whitney sets out to work with anyone and everyone in order to give her niece some semblance of a life again. She's willing to give up everything to make sure that little girl comes out of this as a whole person again. With months of losses blooming into newfound freedoms, friendships and more this duo turns the corner into a world of brighter days!
