Cianci moved to Shanghai, China in the late 1990s to work first as a business (expert) for the Shanghai Daily and later as as a business consultant. When SARs struck the mainland and most expats left the country and the local populace stayed inside, Cianci, always a voracious reader, saw an opportunity to do what she always wanted to do; write fiction.
