About the Author

Dr Abhaya Indrayan, with a PhD from the Ohio State University and distinguished honours such as FRSS, FAMS and FASc, is a highly respected and most well-known biostatistician in India. He has been the Professor and Head of the Department of Biostatistics at Delhi University College of Medical Sciences and has a teaching experience of nearly 40 years to medical students. He has more than 230 publications including his flagship book Medical Biostatistics, now in Fourth Edition, published in the U.S. by Chapman & Hall/CRC Press. Dr Indrayan is the only biostatistician in India to be conferred the prestigious Fellowship of Indian Academy of Sciences. He has completed more than 40 projects for WHO, the World Bank and UNAIDS. He has been visiting Faculty at the Ohio State University and a Visiting Research Scientist at the University of Massachusetts, USA.



Dr Satyanarayana Labani, PhD, FSMS, is working as Scientist 'G' (Director-Grade), Heads Epidemiology & Biostatistics at ICMR-NICPR. He plays vital role in planning, supervision, execution, and reporting of medical research projects and has excellent collaborations with medical faculty. He has been the Principal or Co investigator of INDO-US and ICMR community-based projects on cervical cancer screening and several clinico-epidemiological projects. He has been co-supervisor of MD, DM, and PhD students. Dr Labani is running a Population Based Cancer Registry as Co-Principal Investigator and is an organizer and director of outreach and in house training workshops on Biostatistics and research methodology. He is presently engaged in conduct of systematic reviews on cancer research.
