I have read this series several times and enjoyed it. Gin and her family make up exciting and very well written adventures. I know I'll read them all again while waiting for more. MsPhyllis

I want to give this a 5 because I really enjoyed it. Then I want to give it a 3 because I knew what was going on for almost the entire book! There were really no surprises for me. However you can see the progression of the protagonist, her growth, becoming a more well rounded individual is heartening, and the interplay between the main characters strengthens. Thus I have settled on a 4 star rating. Now trying to patiently wait for the next book to come out in June, which is difficult because I devoured this series, all 16 books, 4 novellas, and 8 short stories in approximately a month and a half! Waiting for more books is maddening...

Fantastic as always

I have read every elemental assassins book from the beginning, unfortunately Snared was extremely disappointing. It was so predictable I found myself rolling my eyes every time I got to a part I had figured out chapters earlier. I enjoy this series and hope the next book is thought out and not so rushed. No spoilers here, just my two cents.

This is one of my most favorite on-going Urban Fantasies at book number 16. The excitement is always there when I hear that there is another one due for release and I nearly always devour it in one sitting. I think I'm especially fond of the later books as they have a lot more backstory in them. This occurs through Gin's flashbacks. This is a series that must be read in order to appreciate the subtle changes in Gin. The growth that she has made from a vicious assassin to a more caring sister and lover (though still an assassin) has been fun to watch. It's rather like peeling back the layers on an onion. I do wish that there was a bit more involvement with Owen in the story-line rather than just a helping hand in Gin's latest escapade. I know that the books where Finn was more of a major character than a secondary one were much more interesting. If you've not read any of this series and love action packed Urban Fantasy, you are really missing the ride of a life time. As a lover of series binge reading or TV watching, I almost wish I had this series in front of me to indulge in.

Gin Blanco continues her quest to discover more about the underworld group called the Circle. Meanwhile, a girl by the name of Elissa Daniels goes missing, and Gin investigates. This Urban Fantasy is suitable for adult audiences. I appreciate the complexity of the characters in this series. I find it amusing that Gin is so frequently underestimated. I love Gin’s friend network. The banter between her and Finn always has me smiling. She has some amazing people she can rely on. We discovered some interesting things about Gin’s nemesis, Hugh Tucker, as well as some other people. Jennifer Estep created another thrilling story in Elemental Assassin series. SNARED is full of action and mystery. Estep does a fantastic job with all the details in this story. I loved the ending. I would love to see the Elemental Assassin series on television. It really would be perfect for TV. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I love these books and characters!!! However some things are getting a bit stale about the stories and I didn't like how at times Gin was dumbed down, BUT I still love this series. I highly recommend this series. *** Received ARC copy of book from and Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books. **** L..

I voluntarily received an ARC of Snared via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This review is hard for me to write because for the first time I found it very hard to get into a book from this series, and it was a bit of a chore to finish. I think this was more of a mindset thing with me. But then I am not sure if it is all my fault. A series needs to stay fresh and keep things new and interesting to keep me hooked. I have lost interest with many long-running book series. The same goes with TV shows. If it is just the same formula plot reproduced with a slight twist over and over I am beyond bored and ready to move one. Unfortunately, this is how I felt with most of Snared. The plot was very predictable and even the little twist at the end wasn’t much of a twist. I am not sure if I am going to continue this series after this book. I may give it one more shot. The plots are becoming incredibly tedious, and this series needs a boost of some originality. Gin stumbling around not being able to figure out what is so clear to the reader becomes tiresome. Her hunting a serial Killer was new, but it really was the same, she is pitted against Ashland newest big bad. It’s up to her to figure it out before all is lost. She winds up going head to head with big bad and if you have read any other of these books you can guess the ending. Because they are all the same. I am giving Snared Two Boundless Stars, I didn’t hate it but it could have been so much better. I am on the fence If I will give this series another shot. This may be the nail in the coffin for me.

4.25 stars--SNARED is the sixteenth full-length installment in Jennifer Estep’s contemporary, adult ELEMENTAL ASSASSIN paranormal, urban fantasy series focusing on Gin Blanco aka The Spider –the reigning Queen of the paranormal Underworld of Ashland. SNARED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory. Told from first person point of view (Gin Blanco) using present day and memories (flashbacks) from the past SNARED follows Gin as she searches for the mysterious, underground group known as the Circle-a secret organization connected to the death of her parents and her beloved sister. A serial killer is on the loose in Ashland, and Gin and her family of supernatural investigators find themselves on the hunt for the person responsible leading Gin back to the Circle and their connections to the past. New details continue to emerge about Gin’s younger years, and her mother’s possible association with the Circle assassins. Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of characters including Gin’s lover Owen, her sister Bria, and foster brother Finn, as well as Gin’s assistant /vampire Silvio Sanchez, Jo Jo and her sister Sophia, and an assortment of giants, dwarves, more elementals and vampires. Vampire Hugh Tucker returns and sets into motion a series events that are both deadly and revealing. SNARED has moments of intrigue, mystery, action and suspense as Gin and her family of elementals search for answers from the present and the past. The action is limited; the violence not as graphic as in previous story line but that is not to say that the violence is non-existent. Gin Blanco, is after all an assassin, and as Queen of the Underworld there is always someone waiting to take down the woman in charge. The premise is engaging, revealing and spirited; the characters are colorful and energetic. Jennifer Estep’s ELEMENTAL ASSASSIN series is a magical and impassioned look at the world of the supernatural, and all of the evil brought together in a battle for power and control.

Snared is book 16 in the Elemental Assassin series. The series revolves around a retired assassin that is a stone and ice elemental and is the head of the underworld (aka bad guys). In this installment, we have a missing girl that Gin and the gang are trying to locate, and a serial killer loose in Ashland. It sure made for an interesting read! We start off with exactly what I want more details on ASAP, Gin Blanco doing some investigation work on the Circle. We learned in the previous book that Gin's mother was a member of the Circle before she passed. And any group with Mab Monroe in it and her mother has her questioning everything. While we do get back to the Circle later in the book, things quickly go back to normal for Gin. She runs her BBQ restaurant and handles the petty squabbles with the underground. That is until one of the underground members approaches Gin to have her look for her missing sister. While searching for the girl, Gin and the gang wind up on high alert when they find a woman's body with Gin's spider runes drawn on the hands. And when Gin finds out this isn't the first time a girl with similar coloring has been found mysteriously dead, she knows there's a serial killer on the large in Ashland. With the missing girl still out there, Gin and the gang have to find her before the killer strikes again. Snared is a great read that had me chomping at the bit to see if they'd be able to figure out whodunit. I have to give major props to JEstep for managing to make a long running series better and better with each book. It's not an easy feat but with a new villain popping up in each book it keeps the plot fresh while letting the main/secondary characters evolve along the way. I love this series and highly suggest you grab it if you haven't read it yet.
