Overview

Injured athletes present a wide range of injuries on the field. The adoption of a safe standard systematic response by the Medical Team may be able to prevent the situation from becoming worse, improve outcome, and promote recovery.

The SOFTE Manual presents a concise approach for assessing and managing the injured athlete. The Manual provides doctors and physiotherapists, coaches and the rest of the medical team with the necessary knowledge and techniques that are comprehensive. Easily adapted and fit their needs. The skills presented in the SOFTE manual recommend one safe way to perform each technique. The knowledge taught in the SOFTE Manual is easily adapted to all venues for the care of the injured athletes.

By introducing this Manual and maintaining its high quality, the ECOSEP provides another instrument to Team Physicians, Sport and Exercise Physicians and their medical team to reduce the morbidity related to sports trauma. The ECOSEP recommends that doctors and physiotherapists involved in care of athletes to update their skills every 4 years to maintain both their current status in the program and their knowledge of current SOFTE core content.
