Ava Valentine is a time-traveling bounty hunter from the distant future. She's chased her fugitive back to present-day New York City, where she anticipates an uneventful capture even though she's a little on edge because she's meeting a new contact.

Dexter Stone is a mysterious soldier of fortune who's agreed to take her to her bounty--for a fee. What Ava's not expecting is to get mixed up with a man she suspects is a vampire!

After a run-in with an unsavory character from Ava's past, she and Stone are forced into an uneasy alliance. But very soon she'll discover she could be Stone's saving grace--or his downfall.

Please note: Staked is a novella of approximately 25,000 words.

I thought Ms. Edwards pulled out all the stops on this paranormal. It's different, fresh, like nothing I've ever read a great way. I loved Dexter and Ava and the way they come together is anything but conventional. I don't want to give too much away, but I can't wait for the next one!

Staked is a great read. Imagine traveling through time to capture criminals. That's what bounty hunter Ava Valentine does. She travels from the 29th century to the 21st century to bring criminals to justice in the 29th century. It seems lots of criminals in the future can time travel, and the 21st century is a favorite. This story hooked me from the first line. Ava is a kick-ass heroine with a vulnerable side. All the charcters are fully drawn, from Ava's sidekick Mickey to the very mysterious and hunky Dexter Stone, who is Ava's contact in the 21st century. But there's something about Stone. Is he a vampire? Ava isn't sure. She can't get involved with a vampire, yet she's drawn to Stone. This is the first book in the series and it sets up the story beautifully. This is a really unique premise. I can't wait to read the other books.

I loved this story! Sandy really knows how to tell a wonderful story, with great characters with attitude and depth. I really appreciate how the plot is slowly making me into a vampire story reader...I never thought it possible. But the hero (Dexter Stone) is just a great character, that you're not sure you trust until later on in the book.

Wonderful story! Time travel and vampires, the perfect combination. I couldn't wait to find out if Ava could really trust Dexter Stone. (I really wanted to like him. A lot!) Is he a vampire? Will she risk everything to save him? Great characters, descriptions and an emotional twist at the end that will leave you begging for more. I hope the next one comes out soon!

Truly interesting start to this series! Wow, this book pulled me in and really grabbed my attention from the beginning! Time-travel bounty hunters, vampires, a legend and more! I literally sat in one spot for this whole read! You have Ava trying to track down a bounty... her contact is Stone and once they meet the adventure begins! Such an entertaining short tale! Touching at times... was sad towards the end, but I am excited to see it continue with the upcoming Hot Commodity episodes! Definitely looking forward to seeing what is in store next!

I didn't think that I would like this story as much as I did. The characters were engaging for me and I loved thier personalities. Finaly a hero that seems to be average in some ways but always strong. Since vampires are usually drowning in wealth it was nice to see a different spin on this. It wasn't really mentioned if he was loaded with money or poor but his home and car was described as if he that had an average income. So he wasn't this all around perfect vampire with loads of money which is becoming a typical vampire trait. He seemed confident and self assured but not completly untouchable which is why I really liked him. I also like the time traveling in this story and loved the heroines strong independent nature. She does have an attitude but in a healthy portion. She was not stupid as most strong heroines are and wasn't out to prove herself by being a tough fight everyone girl. Since she wrongly kept an important issue to herself after certain events unfolded with her vampire I am eager to see how he reacts to that in the next book. The secondary charachters even held an intrest for me and would probly read thier stories if any were written about them. She is training him to be a bounty hunter and it was mentioned he is a good fighter but his personality hinted at bieng insecure at least to me it did. I do not know why both secondary charachters ehld such intrest for me but they did. I found that this is one of those books where you forget that you are reading because the world is so interseting. There are still some unanswered questions but I figured they would be answered soon enough. I really would love to see these two get togehter and hope it is not drawn out forever before they do. I will be reading the next book in this series and hope it is as good as this one.

I loved this book, I read the 1st book in the Time Broker series back in Sept and every month I go and check in with Sandra to see when Hot Commodity is coming out. I love the story line and the time traveling in this book. I am so into the characters Ava and Dexter I love reading about them and how their relationship is starting to form itself. It is a wonderful book, I could not put it down read it in about a day and a half. I recommend this book to everyone who loves a great romance with a little twist of vamps (paranormal) in it. Awesome book, a must read
