CHAPTER 1

2 (9½-inch) plastic canvas radial circles
2 (12 x 18-inch) sheets 7-count plastic canvas
1 regular-size sheet 7-count plastic canvas
Caron Simply Soft medium weight yarn as listed in color key
#16 tapestry needle
Instructions
1. Cut both 9½-inch radial circles in half for base and lid top according to graphs (page 4), then cut outermost row of holes from one half for base, cutting away gray area. Base will remain unstitched.
2. Cut one 60-hole x 80-hole piece for back from regular-size sheet plastic canvas according to graph, cutting out hole indicated for hanging. Back will remain unstitched.
3. Cut holder front and lid rim from 12 x 18-inch sheets according to graphs (pages 4 and 5), cutting out two holes in front piece.
4. Stitch lid top, lid rim and holder front following graphs. Overcast inside edges on front.
5. Whipstitch side edges of front to unstitched back, then Whipstitch side and back to unstitched base.
6. Overcast side and bottom edges of lid rim. Whipstitch top edge of rim to curved edge of lid top. Whipstitch back edge of lid top to back.
CHAPTER 2
Bargello Cylinder

2 (12-inch) plastic canvas radial circles
2 artist-size sheets 7-count plastic canvas
Caron Simply Soft medium weight yarn as listed in color key
#16 tapestry needle
Instructions
1. Cut outermost row of holes from one 12-inch radial circle for cylinder base (no graph). Do not cut remaining 12-inch radial circle, which will be used for lid top. Base will remain unstitched.
2. From artist-size sheets, cut two 127-hole x 80-hole pieces for side, and one each 132-hole x 8-hole piece and 133-hole x 8-hole piece for lid rim according to graphs (pages 7 and 8).
3. Stitch lid top around entire circle, continuing pattern given.
4. Stitch side pieces together, overlapping 5 holes along side edges while stitching, forming a cylinder.
5. Stitch lid rim pieces, overlapping 5 holes along side edges while stitching, forming a circle.
6. Whipstitch side to unstitched base, easing as necessary to fit; Overcast top edge of side.
7. Whipstitch lid rim to lid top, easing as necessary to fit; Overcast bottom edge of rim.
