CHAPTER 1

I Want To See How You Two Interact

Dominick abruptly says to Sofia, "you have all of this bipolar shit going on! So, tell me, are you still on your period?!" Sofia's palm smacks Dominick on his shoulder as she replies loudly, "shut up!" They both share a laugh.

Sofía then stares at Estrella, "and what about you? I know you must get tired of his ways, his behavior, his character, right? Do you not feel confined?" Estrella shook her head, no, then said softly but forceful, "as long as I am owned by him, I am free! I am not here for myself, I am here for him."

Sofia could have been testing Estrella, just awaiting to hear her reply or how she would reply. She glances over at Dominick and laughed, "ha, whatever she's been drinking, I need some of it! What magical spell do you have on this woman? Poor thing, I don't think she is aware of what she's saying. This shit between you two cannot be real. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HOW YOU TWO INTERACT behind closed doors! This peaceful shit between you two, this front I believe you both put on, I want to witness it for myself to know if it's certainly true. Come on, you're telling me ya'll never argue back and forth?" Both Dom and Estrella shook their heads indicating no.

Sofia shook her head with a sarcastic laugh and a dismissive wave from her hand, "bullshit! She's Latina, just like I am. And I know she must be way too proud for this shit! Orgullosa! Now, I definitely must see how you two interact with one another!"

Dominick and Estrella gaze at one another with a grin upon their faces. Then Dominick asks out loud while facing Estrella, "threesome?!" Estrella smiled and Sofia had her mouth wide open and replied firmly, "wait! No! I mean, I don't know, wait! No! Perhaps?! I mean, that could be interesting, hmmm! Wait, I don't know what I'm fuckin' saying, I'm caught up in the moment. Hell No!"

Dom smirked, "yeah, it's a 'no' for now. Perhaps, you'll change your mind later on?" Sofia didn't say a word, she only squinted her eyes at him in anger.

Estrella said good night to the both of them, "listen, I will leave you both alone. I am sure you two have plenty to discuss and I have things to do in the morning." She stood up, grabbed her purse and starts to walk towards the door when Dom assures her, "I will walk you out."

Sofia walked towards her bedroom as Dom walks Estrella all the way to the door. He granted her with a kiss, pressing his lips against her full lips, and she kisses him back.

Estrella asks Dom, "are you sure about this whole thing, about her knowing? We don't have to watch our backs anymore? Will she be planning our deaths or some shit? She was just too calm about that."

Dominick laughed, "ha, you're funny. Nah, we're all good now. Doesn't it feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of our shoulders? Plus, don't worry, this will be a good thing. Sofia is a sensitive savage. She may cry or become extremely emotional, but punch you in the face while she's doing it. Sofia is a damn pit bull, but wouldn't you want a pit bull on your side rather than against you? This may pay off!"

She smiled and nodded her head at Dom, "okay Master, I trust you. I will never go against what you say. I'll always share my advice with you, but I will never go against what you say." They both share a kiss once again, then he opens the door for her to walk out and says, "drive safe and text me when you get home." Estrella replied to Dom, "si, mi Rey!"

The next day, Reina came home from school earlier than usual, but Rey remained after because of his school activities and football practice. Reina greeted her mother with just a 'hello,' then hurries to her room. She knew better than that. She was raised to greet her parents with kisses when saying, 'hello.'

Sofia thought it was peculiar, her uncharacteristic behavior was not just disrespectful to Sofia. However, that behavior raised awareness that something may have been wrong with her baby girl. Which was why she steadily and quietly snuck towards Reina's room and peeked through the cracked door. When she saw her baby girl in tears, she prompted the door open further and gently asks, "what's up, baby girl? Why are you crying?"

Reina swiftly wipes away her tears and said, "it's nothing Mami. I'm okay." Sofia stares at her flatly and responds forcefully, "now Reina, you have never lied to me before, don't you dare begin now!"

Reina tells her mother about some girls in her school whom have been harassing her. She went into detail about the girls, their pranks and their messiness with how they perform mean things to her.

Sofia interjects, "don't worry, I'll go to the school tomorrow and have a little chat with those girls. Mami will fix this, just watch!" Reina put her hands up with her palms facing Sofia, "no Mami, please! You don't have to do that! I still have to see those girls each day for the remainder of the school year and you'll just make it worst. I'll be labeled as a SNITCH and I'll lose the respect of my peers and everyone else."

Sofia shook her head in frustration, "Reina, Mami, escuchame bien, your father and I send you to school to receive the best education possible, NOT to make friends. Yes, making friends is a bonus, however, your ultimate goal from school is to get a degree and acquire a great job. Friends will not be with you through those times. Friends won't help pay your bills and deal with the real world, baby girl. That's something they don't educate you in school. But, after school, there is a real world out there. Your father and I have set aside a trust fund for you and one for your brother, however, that doesn't mean you can just slack off. You both must learn to EARN everything you work for. Friends come and go, you are lucky if you're still around the ones whom you grew up with, and vice versa. Look at your father and I, we haven't kept in touch with anyone from high school, only your tia Lisa. But, that's about it!"

Reina was frustrated that her mother could not understand, "Mami, yo se, pero, you just don't get it, times have changed." She mentioned how a lot of the other girls look up to her. Therefore, Sofia asked, "what would you like for me to do?"

Reina was indecisive, "yo no se." Sofia then said, once again, that she would handle it and that Reina would not be viewed as a snitch.

"Don't worry my love, I'll take care of all of this without making it seem like you were involved, now go wash up and come have supper." She left the room and called Dominick immediately.

He was at one of the fitness clubs that he owned checking up on things, but once Dominick heard something was up with his baby girl, he dropped everything and rushed home. When he arrived, he and Sofia both walk into the bedroom to speak privately. Sofia told Dom what Reina had told her and then said, she wanted to go to the school and speak to those girls the following day. Dom said he would go with her; however, they were not going to speak to the girls at the school. He didn't concur with that, he believed it was a bad idea to do that.

He spoke forcefully but soft, "que haces?! Tranquila! Think Sofia." She cut him off, "I am thinking!" Dominick didn't say a word, instead he shook his head in frustration as Sofia forcefully asked, "what?!" Dom still didn't speak a word and Sofia continued, "Dominick Lorenzo Jean, te estoy hablando! Hello?! Dime! Ahora!"

Dom began to explain, "Sofia, escuchame, why would you go speak to those girls? We are adults, we aren't children and we don't play with little kids. Who runs that establishment?! A principal?! An assistant principal?! If you have an issue in a store or restaurant, are you going to have a discussion with the workers? Or will you speak directly to the manager? Plus, we don't know who those kids' parents are. Look, we'll go tomorrow and speak to the principal or whomever runs that school. And since you have a prestigious reputation of being a HOT HEAD, I'll do most of the talking! No, you know what? I will do ALL the talking!"

Sofia was setting up to disagree, as she began to open her mouth, "but...." Dominick cut her off, "no buts, but this butt." He slapped her ass aggressively and asked, "what's for dinner? Smells really good!" He walked out of the bedroom rapidly. Sofia turned her lips to the side as she attempted not to smile, however, could not help it. That Dom was slick, and smooth indeed.

The next day, Dom and Sofia were dressed and had their driver take them to Reina's school. They argued the entire car ride there and then....

Sofia proposed something to Dominick, "you know what I think?!" Sofia asked him.

He peered at her and then said, "NO, I don't, however, I'm sure you're going to enlighten me! So, what do you think?!"

She responds, "you know what you do with an old car that just won't start anymore? An old car that just won't drive how it used to or the way you want it to? You get rid of it! You know, take that bitch to the chop shop or junk yard and rip the car apart. Detail the fuck out of that muthafucka!"

Dom had to calm her down, "tranquila! We don't need to get rid of the CAR, we can always change the transmission, perhaps add some new parts to it. Then it will drive how we want it to drive. So, no! We are not getting rid of the old CAR, Sofia!"

They had their own code words they used in the past, which they still utilize when they engaged in 'certain activity.' What Sofia was proposing was to get rid of Reina's principal, but Dom put her in her place.

Dom marches to the beat of his own drum. He's not keen on having people dictate his moves, telling him what to do or how to do it. Especially if it doesn't make adequate sense. He is a thinker first, actions later. Sofia was the opposite. Dom has what you would call, 'plenty of swagger.' Swagger can be so many different things; body language, charisma, how you deal with others, self-confidence, mindset, voice tonality, social dynamics and much more. He moves on his OWN terms. A man with swagger, a REAL DOMINANT man, is never required to ask permission for the things he wishes to do. He simply accomplishes them and doesn't apologize either. Dom is the embodiment of DOMINANCE and Sofia is the ultimate ALPHA female.

He spoke in a soft whisper, but it was forceful as he said, "listen, you can't just constantly go around waving a fucking NINA in people's faces and expect them to bend to your will! No violence, Sofia! There are other methods which are more effective." Sofia couldn't grasp where he was going with all of that.

"What do you mean, Dominick?! Como?!" Dom was silent, but she demanded an answer, "digame!"

He took his time to reply, "what I'm referring to is ... the art of VERBAL WAR! Now, when we go in there just like I said last night, remain quiet and follow my lead!"

They walked inside the school to speak with the principal. They mentioned what their baby girl, Reina, was going through.

Dom spoke with firm eye contact and his head high, "I am sure, as an established figure like yourself, you take pride in displaying a spirit of mutual respect and positivity. And teach the principles of togetherness and the importance of a culture, which recognizes equal opportunity for diverse individuals at this prestigious school you run. Am I correct?" The principal nodded his head in agreement.

Dom then continues, "how much money did we help raise last year for all those children in need? All those homeless individuals? What was it, 3.2 million?!" The principal nodded his head once again, "you have a great memory, sir. Yes sir, you are accurate with that amount, Mr. Jean!"

Dom went on, "I'm sure you made and received an enormous tax right off on that, didn't you?" The principal didn't reply. Dom raised an eyebrow, "and some of those write offs weren't documented accurately, huh? Why? Look, sir, I'm not here to make your life difficult. I'm here to make sure my daughter's isn't."

Then Dom asked him, "don't we make generous contributions here?!" The principal agreed, "yes, Mr. Jean, Mrs. Jean, you do."

Dom then continues with his questions, "then if we pay a generous and immense amount of money here to ensure the safety of our child's mental, physical and emotional wellbeing, why is that not being ensured? Now, if this is not the proper school for my lovely princess, we can take our contributions elsewhere?!"

Sofia then adds, "or we can buy the entire fuckin' school and perhaps you could be working in Alaska?!" Dom shook his head and granted her with a dark stare. Sofia was a hot head for sure. And at times had a difficult time following instructions. She completely disregarded what Dom said to her in the car prior to going inside the school to speak to the principal.

The principal said, "please, Mrs. Jean, no need for threats." Dom then assures him, "oh no, my wife does not make threats. She makes promises." Dom and Sofia stare at the principal as if their eyes were burning through his soul, because it made him very uncomfortable.

He then reassured them, "no worries Mr. and Mrs. Jean. I will find out what's going on and take care of it, immediately. I assure you both!"

Sofia then added, "and just make sure my daughter's name isn't mentioned if you plan on having a damn meeting or something! There is no need for the girls to know it's about her. I don't want to dig my daughter into a deeper hole with your non-domesticated students here. Understood?!" The principal nodded his head in agreement.

Dom shook the principal's hand and said, "I am glad that we understand one another." He walked away. The principal extended his arm for Sofia to shake his hand, but Sofia did not. She just provided him with a mean mug, a very dark stare.

On the car ride home Dom says to her, "did you have to add that bullshit threat? You know, you receive more with sugar than you do with vinegar, Sofia!"

She shook her head, "FUCK that, that's MY baby girl! I fuckin' carried her, not you! You might not be pleased and thought it was distasteful about how I acted back there, and what I said. However, you still backed me up regardless!"

Dom replied, "look, I will never tell you that you are wrong in front of strangers. However, in private, like now, I will! You were wrong! Fuck! Can we just act like normal civilized people for once?! People who do not start trouble or issues? You love that 'gangsta' shit and I want more for us! I want to be viewed and portrayed as more! To be better than how we were raised! To be better than what we were! You want people to be intimidated of you, forever?! You will forever be known as, 'the hot headed, short tempered, trouble maker!' Is that what you want, Sofia?!"

Sofia squinted her eyes towards him, she placed an index finger upon her chin. She peered above her head and then replied, "como se dice? I don't give a fuck?!"

Dom shook his head, "see, there you fucking go again! And now you think this is funny as well. News flash, this is not a damn joke!" Sofia changed the subject, "and by the way, no one is going to hurt my children and get away with it. For the record, I would KILL for my kids!"

Dom shook his head once again, "why don't you say it louder for the entire fucking world to hear you?! Go ahead and open the sunroof, dale, abrilo!"

They argued the entire car ride back home. These two were similar to Bonnie and Clyde. Just imagine if there were ever a corporate Bonnie and Clyde. Ruthless, aggressive, no remorse, take whatever they want attitude, but instead do it with finesse, eloquence and were cordial at the same time. What a crazy, and I mean that literally when I say, 'crazy,' dynamic duo.

Sofia thought it was odd the following day when Dom woke her up shaking her body with his hand. He shouted at her, "wake up Sofia, we must talk!" Sofia sat up quickly and disorientated while wearing her black, silk, sleep mask. at him, "what the fuck is going on?! Why the fuck are you shouting?! This shit better be important!"

Dominick said, "listen, I'm planning some stuff. I'm making many arrangements because I'm headed to the Dominican Republic on a major business trip. I'm about to become a big partner with one of the hottest and well known club owners in Punta Cana!" Sofia had a wrinkle between her eyebrows and they curved downward as she displayed a look of fury towards Dominick.

"Are you fuckin' kidding me?! You're telling me, you woke me up for that?! Dominick, that is not important or big news. You always score big! When do you ever lose?! And even when you do think you lose, you still learn, hence, you never lose!" Dom smirked.

"I appreciate the confidence you have in me, but didn't we make a pact that we were going to be honest with one another from now on? For that reason, I'm letting you know what's going on. I'll be gone for a few days, possibly a week."
