About the Author

Lowell Neely was born in 1948 in western Kansas, where he lived on a farm until after he finished his senior year of high school. After graduation, he moved to Colorado and lived there until he joined the Navy in 1968 during the Vietnam War. Soon after returning home he married Shirley, his wife of 48 years. Shirley was raised as a Mennonite and Lowell grew up as a Methodist. This mixture of religious backgrounds caused Lowell to remark that Shirley was a follower of Paul while he was a follower of Christ. He based this on the fact that her minister’s sermons were from Acts, Corinthians, Romans and Thessalonians while he was listening to the four Gospels.
