About the Author

Tom Boatman is retired President and Chief Operating Officer of Cabela's World's Foremost Bank. He worked in banking, marketing and retail management for 40 years. He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University and received a graduate certificate in bank management from the University of Virginia. He served as President of the Mid-America BankCard Association, Chair of the First Data Resources Advisory Board, partnered with Lincoln's mayor to create Lincoln Cares, a public-private partnership to enhance the city's recreational offerings, President of the Lincoln TeamMates Board, a mentoring program for children and youth, and a regular reading tutor for low-income first-graders.

Sara Boatman, Ph.D. is Professor Emerita of Communication and retired Vice President for Student Life and Campus Community at Nebraska Wesleyan University, her alma mater. She taught in high school and college for 50 years and served in administrative positions for 34 years. Her doctoral studies at the University of Nebraska were in organizational communication. She served as the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Small College Coordinator and received that association's Outstanding Dean and Pillar of the Profession awards. She chaired the National Association for Campus Activities Board of Directors and received the first Sara Boatman Award for Outstanding Volunteerism. She has consulted, published and presented extensively on communication and leadership.
