Sucker
Charley, a Marine Biology grad student, is excited for her first day in the field. Measuring the salinity of tidal pools might not be exciting works, but she's ready to prove herself. However, when she finds a beautiful man, whose bottom half resembles a giant octopus more than her own two legs, she's about to discover a whole new meaning to the phrase "first contact."

Excerpt:
The silky tentacle wrapped around her leg slowly, a sinuous movement as it tightened around her calf. Again she thought about how strong it must be, how easy to pull her down, but before she could pull away, she felt the odd sensation of a row of suckers gently probing her. It felt like a lover’s gentle little suck, against her ankle, along the back of her calf, a tickle almost. She knew suckers were one of the ways they explored the world, and wondered if that held true for him, if he was tasting her right now, sunscreen mixed with sweat and sea water.
Looking back up from the place where their two limbs were currently entangled, she though she caught him smiling at her from under the surface of the water and offered back a smile in return. Slowly he brought his face above it and began to move a bit closer. At the same time the tentacle curled around her calf tugged her forward, still incredibly gentle.
“My name’s Charley,” she said, keeping her voice as quiet as she could while still being heard over the surf. She let the tentacle tug her forward, and didn’t pull away when a second reached out to brush against her fingers, curling between them.
His smile widened, and it was a good thing she was in water, because if not, she was fairly certain she would have swooned. In all her days, she was quite certain she’d never seen a more gorgeous person. Clearly it was better down where it was wetter. He didn’t offer a name back, although really she had no way to know if it was because he was shy, because she was speaking gibberish to him, or because he wasn’t even capable of speech. Leaving the protective shelter of the edge of the tidal pool, he moved closer to her, and she could feel the brush of his limbs in the water as they spread around her, some of them touching her briefly on her bare skin, others just stirring the water so it caressed past her in little currents. The other creatures in the tidal pool seemed to have no interest in them. It was likely he was an apex predator, and they were being actively avoided.
Although it didn’t take a degree in marine biology to recognize the look on his face had nothing to do with hunting. At least not to find a meal.
