About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessie Evans, gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sexy, contemporary romances she loves to read.

She's married to the man of her dreams, and together they're raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a cottage in the jungle. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more.

When she's not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and drifting in and out on the waves, feeling thankful for sun, surf, and lovely people to share them with.

"Because heroes come in all sizes and shapes, love is as real at twelve as it is at fifty-two, and love makes even the most timid hearts brave." Ross Dyer and Elodie Prince have always been there for each other. Even way back when they were kids, they each saw something special in the other, and were there to be the other's safe place. But life, as life will, took Elodie away from Lonesome Point, leaving the both of them with only the memory of a love that had just started to blossom. When life intervenes once again, bringing Elodie back to town some fourteen years later, it's as though the tiny seed never really died, but was just waiting for the perfect moment to bloom. This book may be little, but, oh my goodness, it is like finding an unexpected treasure. Jessie Evans continues to delight me with her stories of regular folks that are not regular at all. Ross and Elodie are so special, having seen that spark in each other that no one else could glimpse. Their feelings for each other allow them to grow, to become stronger and unafraid to stand up to the bullies that made their childhoods miserable, and it is a joy to behold. "Sometimes you have to to take a risk, no matter how slim your chances of success. Some things - like beautiful girls with magical smiles - are worth it." In all of her Lonesome Point, TX, books, Jessie creates an atmosphere of love, of community, of a place and people that take care of their own. I love this series and the characters so much that I sped through Sunny With A Chance of True Love in just a couple of hours, happily revisiting characters from previous books, like Tulsi's daughter Clementine, who is a firecracker, and had me laughing out loud with her snarky comments. And, like all of Jessie's men, I am in love with Ross, who, despite his childhood nickname is the opposite of ugly. His dedication to Elodie, and his willingness to stand his moral ground for her, and for himself, against bullies and thugs, shows that, truly, beauty is as beauty does. As ever, five heartwarming and romantic stars for Ross, Elodie, and Lonesome Point, TX.

Ugly?!?! Ugly Ross is anything but UGLY! He is the friend that you can count on, who is funny, sweet, cute, with a beautiful soul and just a wholesome good man. Definitely not UGLY! I was so thrilled to see him in his own novella. Loved him the first time I was introduced to him in Leather and Lace.  Ross had fallen in love when he was twelve years old with Elodie, the awkward, quiet girl that was different from the southern bells of Lonesome Point. The two spent their school days playing with bugs and Ross listening to Elodie's scary monster stories. Elodie along with Ross was picked on a lot by the school bully because they were different. When Ross was finally ready to let Elodie know how he felt, she moved away leaving him heartbroken. Years later Ross and Elodie's paths crossed when Elodie came back to Lonesome Point to cover Armadillo Day. When their eyes met, sparks reignited, and they quickly turned to hot scorching flames. Not wanting to waste anymore time, their relationship skipped the traditional route. Why waste time when they already knew each others souls. However, happily ever after wouldn't be so sweet without drama. When old bullies resurface, will Ross and Elodie's old fears and insecurities come back to haunt them? Are they finally strong and brave enough to fight back? Someone has to teach the bully a lesson, right? You went and did it again Jessie Evans, another great novella and addition to the Lonesome Point series. BRAVO!!!

Ugly Ross, finally gets his story, and its with the girl who stole his heart when he was 12! Elodie comes back to Lonesome to see if the boy who was nice to her  when they were kids, is a man who is still worth her heart to.  The bully from their childhood, is still in Lonesome and is still a douche who likes to bully. It will take these two standing up to their childhood bully, for them to find happiness.  This is the SWEETEST book in the Lonesome Series.  A portion of book sales will go towards Pacer Charity. I fully support authors who write books that deal with such modern day issues, and help charities.

I've been waiting for a story about Ugly Ross since the first chapter of Leather and Lace (Lonesome Point Book 1) and boy was this worth the wait! Ross and Elodie are two people who simply don't fit in. They started out as childhood friends and discovered a blooming love when Elodie has to move away at the age of 12. Now she's back in Lonesome Point and they pick up right where they left off. I will admit I cheered and I cried. I love the fact Jessie tackles the tough subject of bullying with this story. So many people avoid any hint of the tougher subject. To make this even better...50% of the first month of profits from SUNNY WITH A CHANCE OF TRUE LOVE will go to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center!! So pick up a great read and help a great cause at the same time.

After stumbling over the main character's name Elodie I had to send a message off to Jessie to see how it's pronounced. It rhymes with Melody. Now that I can read her name correctly let's get onto the great story. Ugly Ross isn't so ugly anymore and stinky Elodie smells much better. Two kids who found young love at the ripe age of 12 before Elodie went to live with her grandmother, find each other again as adults. In this short story, The two reunite and rekindle that young love into a growing passion. Some child hood tormentors stand in the way and the two must fight through insecurities to stay together. A full aww love story in a quick read (about an hour) The ending is very sweet and contains one of my favorite lines!

Ross is my new favourite! Lonesome Point, Texas is a great place to live but even this lovely town is not immune to the challenges of life. Elodie Prince, small and prone to stuttering as a child, spent her childhood growing up neglected and easily targeted by the bullies at school. Ross Dyer knew all too well that same shame as his nickname came to be “Ugly Ross”. When they were kids, despite the flaws others saw in them so quickly, they only saw the good in each other. A spark was lit! Separated at twelve, when they meet again fourteen years later, they knew right away that spark did not die. Despite the years, the enemies of the past remained. United as adults they had a choice – give in or fight! I wait anxiously for each new release by Jessie Evans and this one did not disappoint! This is a love story made more beautiful by the challenges the characters face together. As a child Elodie was neglected by her parents and often came to school dirty and unkempt. She stuttered. Even so young, Ross was tall and felt incredibly awkward. The storyline for Elodie and Ross immediately struck a chord and my heart melted to see bullying portrayed simply yet so eloquently in this sweet, short installment in the Lonesome Point series. I love a world where bullies get their comeuppance, quirky is endearing and kindred spirits is not just a fairy tale. And I will not think of road kill in the same way ever again! I want more of these endearing characters! Bring on the next chapter in Lonesome Point! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sunny with a Chance of True Love: The Ballad of Ugly Ross (Lonesome Point Texas) Jesse Evans tells the story of Ugly Ross like no other. Thank you for such a wonderful story. Although Ugly Ross is not the strongest kid or man when grown up..... he is the strongest intellectually and ends up winning the fight while only using his brains. The story moves you through Ugly Ross' life as a boy to manhood and takes you on a very thrilling ride through it all. There will be lots of smiles and lots of tears but all the while it will be worth the read. This is a must read by Jesse Evans!!!

5 Stars Ugly Ross. When Jessie announced she was finally gonna give us his story I was so happy because he’s been intriguing me since Leather and Lace. I have to say that I was overjoyed by what we got because Ross is anything but ugly! He’s the best kind of friend and the best kind of person. His unfortunate nickname was the result of a bully’s vindictive nature, but he never let it determine who he was though I think it did allow him to hide from what really made him happy for a long time. When the girl he has never forgotten from the age of twelve returns to Lonesome Point, everything seems to be looking up for Ross Dyer. Elodie Prince rides back into his life on her Vespa and the sparks fly instantly. It seems Elodie has missed Ross just as much as he did her! I loved watching the two of them find their way together; even though his friends worry he’s rushing things. The only thing darkening their happily ever after is the bully from their past. I loved this story!! Jessie did a wonderful job as always of weaving a story that is beautiful and impactful all at once. This story was as much about love defying time as it was about the courage to stand up to the mean people of the world who seem to take pleasure in trying to tear others down. Jessie is also the queen when it comes to writing a novella that feels like a full novel. • “because heroes come in all sizes and shapes, love is as real at twelve as it is at fifty-two, and love makes even the most timid hearts brave” • “Now she knew that she and her heart were both a little strange, odd ducks in a world that preferred lightly-seasoned chicken.” •”She’d had lovers and boyfriends in the past, but none of them had made her feel as special or understood as one little boy had years ago. And once a heart has been understood- every dark corner seen, every shadow embraced- it’s impossible to settle for a softer shade of love.” PicsArt_1418401334408_kindlephoto-68525768 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessie Evans, gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sexy, contemporary romances she loves to read. I just loved these two characters. I love all started in elementary school. I laughed out several times while reading this one. I loved the message just be yourself, so many of us think we can't, but the is one person out there waiting to love the true you. That's exactly how it is for Ross and Elodie. This book also deals with the topic of bullying which I went through in school myself.

This is a great novella to add to the Lonesome Point series. Ross and Elodie are so sweet, yet so strong. This story is filled with friendship, emotion, spirit and love…a lot to pack into a novella, but done splendidly. It is wonderful to see how these characters find strength in each other to stand up for themselves!

Jessie Evans is the Queen of novella's. The. Queen. No one can tell a full length novel packed with emotion, lust, humor, love and sadness into a pint sized book like she can! I have liked Ugly Ross since Leather and Lace. He's sweet and fun and not at all ugly. He fell in love when he was twelve and he never forgot the most interesting girl he'd ever known, Elodie. He has so many memories of that little girl, some good and some bad. Bullies never seemed to leave either one of them alone, giving them their horrible nick names. One day Elodie just rides back into town on her Vespa with the same braids and heart stopping smile. They instantly recognize each other and that same spark and feeling from when they were kids is still there. They skip the pleasantries and go right to spending the day together. And then the next and the next. They don't feel the need to take their time because they have loved each other since they were twelve. But, just when they think they have it all the bullies from their past sneak up on them and try to cause trouble. Can Ross and Elodie fight back against the bully this time? Will they make it out the other side together? Not only is this a wonderful love story about being who you are, but it's a gripping lesson about not letting bullies get their way. If you do, they will just keep coming back. You have to stand up for yourself and believe in yourself, your friends and your family. At the end of the day, that's what makes us all who we are. "I don't care." She lifted one slim shoulder and let it fall. "Whatever it is, the answer s yes. Ride on my scooter, yes. Kidney, yes. Special place in my heart…always." She tasted like a recipe revelation in human form, the perfect, intoxicating combination of flavors designed to drive a man out of his mine with wanting her. "Sorry. I was sleep sexing. It's like sleepwalking, but with more sex in it." "What's that word?" Ross asked softly. "What word?" "The one that means magical, but it starts with a vowel. I think it starts with an E." "Enchanting." She grinned at him. "That's it," Ross said, kissing her forehead. "You're enchanting."

Fun, sexy, quick read. I loved these characters. Ross Dryer and Elodie Prince where best friends in elementary school until she moved away but neither ever forgot the other. Now she's back in Lonesome Point and their lives are about to get very interesting!! I love these free spirited characters and their story is perfect! I highly recommend this one.
