About the Author

Carolyn Jewel was born on a moonless night. That darkness was seared into her soul and she became an award winning and USA Today bestselling author of historical and paranormal romance. She has a very dusty car and a Master’s degree in English that proves useful at the oddest times. An avid fan of fine chocolate, finer heroines, Bollywood films, and heroism in all forms, she has three cats and a dog. Also a son. One of the cats is his.

I loved the first book of the series and her stolen love. But this book just upsets me as the characters are confusing in their actions and thoughts and the story line does not seem believable or make sense in my opinion. I would save your money for a different book.

Not to be missed installment from Jewel. The fifteen years between first book, Lord of Ruin, and this one highlight Jewel's story craft going from consistently good to smoldering excellence. The couple are believable in their emotional challenges, their responses based on their individual lives prior to marriage, in their back and forth misunderstandings, without being intentionally cruel to each other. How each moves thru past emotional trauma makes this a keeper shelf book. The more Jewel publishes the better she gets, even when I think there can't be a better tale. If you enjoyed Lisa Kleypas "Devil in Winter" read this book for a similar captivating book.

It has a saucy, clever heroine; a dark, handsome, flawed hero; and lots of hot sex. Yep, all my favorites!
