This is a gripping read that I couldn't put it down! When I started reading it, I literally read until I fell asleep, and when I woke the next day, backed up about 5 screens and read until I finished the book! The book starts with our heroin, her ship and her AI companion/repairbot deep into trouble. When the repairbot gets hurt, you can feel her attachment to it. I must admit, this is what really got me hooked on the story. That this amazingly complex robot had a real personality. You almost forgot that it wasn't human. Nova's life has been hard, yet she is a survivor. She is going to fight where others would run. And she will do what is right rather than what is easy. There is a lot of action in this book. I am half way through the next one, and I must say that the action doesn't really stop. The universe that the author has created is well fleshed out and very believable! If you like reading about how humanity may exist once we travel the stars, then I would say this is a must read!
