Meet the Author

Lorraine Heath wrote her first story at seven, and it involved a fisherman who fell in love with a mermaid. She has since moved on to writing about sexy cowboys and dashing English lords (and sometimes, cleverly, in the same book!). Publishers Weekly says she is a "master of her craft." She is, indeed, and along with being a New York Times and USA Today bestseller, she has won the RITA® Award, Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award, and a Career Achievement Award.

This book is not Loraine Heath's best, dont like the ending it really makes main character, Rebecca, look pretty shallow!

this author knows how to write emotion like none other!

I would give this 3 1/2 stars. I think this book was well written, but it made me sad. Jake has had such a hard life. He deserves so much. Rebecca is a wonderful woman, but she really disappoints me. Everything works out, but I was frustrated with Rebecca. Therefore, I only could give it 3 1/2 stars. I walked away from this book feeling unsatisfied even with the Happily Ever After ending. I guess I don't forgive as easy as others.

you will remember this book long after you have finished reading .. It will tear at and touch your heart. I loved it when I read it first in 1994 and I loved it even more in 2014...

Poignant, funny, sad, wonderful. The heroine may have been a little insensitive seeming, but she really wasn't completely, just confused. She was as honest as she could be, any many a romantic young person only recognizes the romantic package and trappings, not the quiet, strong, silent, but irrevocably steadfast love. She hurt the hero, but he seemed to instinctively know the truth about setting what you love free.

Lorraine Heath is a wonderful writer but never more so than this book. Each page makes you fall more in love with the character especially Jake. You just want to hug him & tell you will love him even if Reb won't. Great tearjerker,
