About the Author

Uma Chopra was born on 7th July, 1952 in her ancestral home in Patiala to Air Vice Marshal Raj Kumar Singh Marya and Prem Marya. The author did graduation in B.A. English (Hons) from Lady Sriram College, Delhi, in 1973. Later, she did her Master Degree in English Literature from Delhi University. Uma Chopra broughtup in a family where confluence of Hindu culture and Western culture took place. She said that Western culture was brought to her by her father and Hindu culture from her mother. These two influences are a harmonious blending and are never antagonistic to each other which is reflected in her writing.
