I totally recommend this book for anyone, who has had difficulty with quitting smoking. I was a two pack a day smoker, who tried the patch and other books, but I seem to always go back to smoking. I'm a physican in the Emergency Department and my life is full of stress, as well as having three children at home. My wife has hates the smokes and my smoking has caused so much added stress in my life. So, I have been ready to quit for years, but I couldn't. The Tao of Quitting Smoking helps the reader go inward to capture back his self. I have given the book to my staff in eht E.R. Actually, most of the doctors and nurses smoke in the E.R where I work. I met the author at a book signing in NY and bought his book. I found the book very interesting, and extremely self motivating. Only one wish is that the author, Joseph Weaver would have spent more time on diet after quitting. I used most of his suggestion but needed more. I also had a problem with this book because, in order to complete this book, one has to be smoking. However, there were much much more that I loved about the book. What I loved about the book was that it referred smokers to discuss plans with their doctors for those, who have difficulty in the past with quitting. The book is complete and has help me finally end my addiction. Great Job, Joe. You should think about doing seminars!

After reading the Tao of Quitting Smoking, I highly recommend this book, not only to those addicted to nicotine, but to anyone with an addiction. The most important thing about quitting an addiction/habit is preparing yourself not only physically but also mentally and spiritually. This book is excellent because it touches upon each facet necessary to end an addiction. There are assignments which one can do while smoking as well as a step-by-step process to achieving a smoke-free life. This book is written in a simple, easy-to-read style not only for adults, but also for young teens. I, especially love that the Author has had first-hand experiences struggling with wanting to quit and in his book, we travel with him on his journey to becoming a nonsmoker. The book inspires one to achieve their highest potential in believing in yourself that you can do anything that you set your mind to do. He reminds me of Dr. Phil with his no nonsense approach.

I heard about this book from Oprah's talk show. It seem to be too good to be true. Being a two-pack a day smoker, the Tao of quitting smoking has helped me where the other quit smoking books failed. This book has helped me gain my inner self again, so no matter what stress came into my life, I was not going to be suckered into smoking again to relieve stress in my life. Now, I do more productive/constructive things in my life to relieve stress. This book has help me not only with quitting smoking but also with losing weight and alcohol. Three cheers to the author.
