About the Author

Sun Tzu (6th century BC) was a poet, philosopher and keeper of archives in the imperial court of ancient China.

He is the founder of philosophical Taoism and taught it to larger audiences. Later on, he came to be revered as a deity in religious Taoism and traditional Chinese religions.

When he was 80 years old – saddened and disillusioned that people were not following the path to natural goodness - he moved to today’s Tibet and started recording his teachings. He composed the five thousand characters of the Tao Te Ching, the Way of Power.

He taught that all striving are vain and counterproductive and challenged people to reach the state of stillness.
