About the Author

Nell is a forty-something bisexual Swedish woman, married to the love of her life, and a proud mama of a grown daughter. She left the Scandinavian cold and darkness for warmer and sunnier Malaysia a few years ago, and now spends her days writing, surfing the Internet, enjoying the heat, and eating good food. One day she decided to chase her lifelong dream of being a writer, sat down in front of her laptop, and wrote a story about two men falling in love. Nell writes gay romance, prefers sweet over angst, and wants to write diverse and different characters.

This short story will have all the feels coming to the surface. I don't have a significant other but I have been my mother's 24/7 caregiver for the better part of the last 25 years, the worry and heartache that comes from waiting is excruciating. So I may not fully understand the fear of losing your other half as Ellery is dealing with, I do understand the places your mind goes when the waiting game is at your door. The what ifs can damage a person's spirit. Jools does his best to ease Ellery's fears by reminding them of how they met. This moment may not really do much to ease the worry but it does show the reader how lasting their love is. I won't give away the ending but I will say be prepared to get emotional. Team Luker is a short story but it is more than worth the time and money because not only is it a lovely reading gem, it just might help you to appreciate life and those around you. Some people will probably walk away saying "I'd love to see more of Ellery and Jools 25 years together" and I'm sure the author would have done a marvelous job with it but personally I think Team Luker is the perfect length. For me, nothing shows the true connection between people, be it a couple, siblings, parent/child, or friendship, more than in a time of crisis and Nell Iris has done a fabulous job telling that love. This one may be short on quantity but it is long on quality.

A wonderful short story! As far as I'm concerned, Nell Iris is the queen of MM short stories. In this very short tale, she grabbed me and hooked me in the first couple of pages. More accurately, she grabbed me with the blurb; as soon as I read it, I knew that this book would probably tear my heart out. The love that Ellery has for Jools oozed off the pages and wrapped me up in the story. I really wasn't sure how this one would end and I'm not telling. I'll tell you that my emotions were all over the place reading this short story and I shed more than a few tears – both happy and sad. I truly believe that writing a short story is a special art form. I absolutely don't mean to take anything away from all of the wonderful authors I love and follow who write longer books; but the depth of emotion this story invoked, in fact most all of the short stories I've read from Nell Iris, doesn't just happen; I think it takes a special kind of writer to do justice to this art form. I know there are probably reviewers out there who will complain that Team Luker was too short and that they wanted more. I wouldn't mind reading more about this couple either, but… Nell wrote a beautiful little story with an ending that I found very satisfactory and I wouldn't change a thing because then it wouldn't be a short story. ♥ I purchased a copy of this book direct from the publisher, JMS Books. ***Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions dot com***
